The Osprey is a very nice hotel. It is ski in/ski out and it is 10 yards from the Strawberry Express lift. This one really is ski in/ski out! You ski up to the door and the ski valet is there to take your boots and skis and put them on the warmer. That is fantastic. I don't think I carried my skis the whole time in Beaver Creek.
This hotel has a tapas style restaurant. However it is very deceiving! You can't really tell it is a restaurant. The food here is very good. It is really great for apres ski or lunch or dinner. You must try it and I mean very good. Try the buffalo chicken legs. I guarantee these are BIG chicken legs and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were very nice as well and came on a skewer type tower. They were not greasy. Delicious. They would run out of some things for breakfast before breakfast shut down. I understand that. If breakfast ends at 9:30...I really don't expect them to cook a whole new batch of scrambled eggs at 9:28. However, this hotel would if you asked them to. The breakfast was a mixture of hot, cold, and cereals. Plenty to get your day going. The juices were very nice. No Sysco food here.
The rooms were nice and well appointed. The bed was heavenly. Our room had a gas fireplace It was nice but we didn't run it much. The room had a spacious closet, a private toilet area with a door, and a nice shower with a rain shower. Dual sinks were standard.
Most of all, the staff was friendly and REALLY accommodating. Janie and Amanda were model hoteliers. I'm not sure these people were ever in a bad mood and they would do anything for you. If you had to wait more than 15 seconds for something they always asked if they could bring it to your room. They gladly did so and didn't expect handouts. It reminds me of the service in Japan. If you have been to Japan you know what I am talking about.
While we saw kids at this hotel it was nice and quiet. They had games for them to play in the lobby and a Nintendo Wii as well. We would definitely stay here again. The location is the best in Beaver Creek. The Strawberry Express lift is great. No waiting and good runs. A nice touch by the staff to put out coffee/tea and hot chocolate daily. If you need a ride anywhere in the village they will take you there gladly Don't be a chump and not tip them. It's unnecessary but very appreciated. $1-$2 is fine for a ride in the village. When you want to be picked up they will come and get you. Just call. This is a nice clean hotel. Don't come here for a drunken party or bring 8,000 kids. Come here to respect to the property and the scenery and enjoy what they have to offer. It's a fine hotel.
