The Osprey is a very nice hotel. It is ski in/ski out and it is 10 yards from the Strawberry Express lift. This one really is ski in/ski out! You ski up to the door and the ski valet is there to take your boots and skis and put them on the warmer. That is fantastic. I don't think I carried my skis the whole time in Beaver Creek.

This hotel has a tapas style restaurant. However it is very deceiving! You can't really tell it is a restaurant. The food here is very good. It is really great for apres ski or lunch or dinner. You must try it and I mean very good. Try the buffalo chicken legs. I guarantee these are BIG chicken legs and cooked perfectly. The onion rings were very nice as well and came on a skewer type tower. They were not greasy. Delicious. They would run out of some things for breakfast before breakfast shut down. I understand that. If breakfast ends at 9:30...I really don't expect them to cook a whole new batch of scrambled eggs at 9:28. However, this hotel would if you asked them to. The breakfast was a mixture of hot, cold, and cereals. Plenty to get your day going. The juices were very nice. No Sysco food here.

The rooms were nice and well appointed. The bed was heavenly. Our room had a gas fireplace It was nice but we didn't run it much. The room had a spacious closet, a private toilet area with a door, and a nice shower with a rain shower. Dual sinks were standard.

Most of all, the staff was friendly and REALLY accommodating. Janie and Amanda were model hoteliers. I'm not sure these people were ever in a bad mood and they would do anything for you. If you had to wait more than 15 seconds for something they always asked if they could bring it to your room. They gladly did so and didn't expect handouts. It reminds me of the service in Japan. If you have been to Japan you know what I am talking about.

While we saw kids at this hotel it was nice and quiet. They had games for them to play in the lobby and a Nintendo Wii as well. We would definitely stay here again. The location is the best in Beaver Creek. The Strawberry Express lift is great. No waiting and good runs. A nice touch by the staff to put out coffee/tea and hot chocolate daily. If you need a ride anywhere in the village they will take you there gladly Don't be a chump and not tip them. It's unnecessary but very appreciated. $1-$2 is fine for a ride in the village. When you want to be picked up they will come and get you. Just call. This is a nice clean hotel. Don't come here for a drunken party or bring 8,000 kids. Come here to respect to the property and the scenery and enjoy what they have to offer. It's a fine hotel.

Let me say first that-according to my wife and friends-we are spoiled travelers.Because vacations are so important to us,I spend many hours of research before choosing our next destination,in the mean time enjoying the anticipated pleasures;it is so not uncommon to be sometimes somewhat disappointed.
We booked in aug 2008 for a 15 day stay in febr 2009 via the Beaver Creek website;be careful and follow later offers on line:a few days later we were able to get a much better rate:about 25% off.
We choose the best room category of three offered:hotelroom-superior-deluxe.This was confirmed and consequently PREPAID.
At arrival we got a nice room but clearly not in the best category;after an initial denial-not appropriate- this was confirmed and we were told that the room as requested was not available due to construction;a simple explanation before or at our arrival would have prevented a lot of irritation;eventually we got an acceptable room and-after several trips to the frontdesk- an also acceptable refund.Still we missed big windows with great views, which in our mind represent the most important asset of a hotel room. But again eventually our complaint was being dealt with to our satisfaction.

Bad:
Noise transference between rooms with connecting doors;this could easily be remedied by placing soundproofing panels between the doors when the rooms are used as individual units. However we were given a refund after a night of noise pollution by a neighbour with-I presume- marital problems.

Not so good:
Breakfast;after first days red fruits, some other items and bacon disappeared;strange ham steaks and greasy sausages survived;egg dishes decreased in quality and their identity became more obscured/scrambled.

Very good:
Attitude of and willingness to provide service by employees.Ski valet:excellent;staff to drive us to dinner:excellent.

Why we will come back to Beaver Creek:
Vilars Center of the Arts:we enjoyed 5 very different performances in this very intimate theatre;fantastic acoustics, friendly volunteers and only excellent seats without any exception.

Uncrowded slopes compared to Europe;we enjoyed Zermatt the last winters in the luxury of Riffelalp Resort, but the high density of skiers/boarders is often unnerving.

Conclusion:Very nice hotel, but one should cater more to individual preferences;in my opinion unobstructed view counts more than in others;for instance I would be willing to pay more for rooms which are not immediately in front of the roof of the Strawberry Express lift.Inns are small scale and should able to accomodate individual tastes.

This hotel was great but I do have a few complaints. I will fisrt tell you about what I loved most about this hotel:
1. Excellent and friendly staff
2. Clean rooms with comfortable beds
3. Staff ran down to video store to hire whatever dvd we wanted (only cost $5)
4. Valet parking
5. Ski valet was excellent and so close to the ski lift
6. Close to town
What I did not like about the hotel:
1. Air con did not work! We were so hot at night even with all the windows open (and we were there in Feb!)
2. The hotel is new so the work was meant to be finished by December, however, there was still some work going on. At one stage we recieved a letter saying that there was going to be a tradesman coming through our room to finish of a few things. We weren't too happy about that but let it slide. The next morning I was in the shower and half soaped up and the water was shut off! We immediately called reception and they managed to turn it back on, however we were never informed of it being switched off and thought it was very unprofessionable. We went to reception to complain and spoke to the manager and he was very accomodating. He gave us 2 nights free and offered to move us as some rooms on 1 side don't have working air con.
3. Complimentary breakfast buffet was not much of a buffet at all! There was nice bagels and yummy muesli, however the scrambled eggs were inedible.

Aside from the negatives, we did really enjoy our stay and would potentially stay there again.

This is the way to go in Beaver creek. True ski in ski out, friendly and accomodating hotel staff, delicious bar food, great breakfast included, comfortable bed and clean room. We will return.

We stayed at this new hotel the last week of feb and could not have been happier. The service was great, especially all of the concierge staff who will help you with everything. The complimentary shuttle service was great, however there was a rumor they were going to discontinue (which I believe would be a big mistake as it allowed us to go to different resorts i.e. Ritz and Vail for dinner). The breakfast was perfect and ski valet was so good, I will never stay in another place where I have to keep equipment inside my room. The only problem with writing such a good review is that the Osprey will no longer be a "hidden" gem.
