“A skier unfriendly hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 31, 2012

This is probably the only lodge in the entire Vail-Beaver Creek area does not provide a shuttle to ski mountains. You have to take public bus which is crowded and unreliable. The bus takes a big loop with many stops. It is very time consuming and unconformtable. You don't expect this when you paid $500 a night. The parking space in the front of the hotel is limited. This makes loading and unloading is inconvenient. It is an issue when you come to ski, which you have quite a lot of luggages.
We had a One Bedroom Premium Villa. The furniture quality is good but the room is ill-shaped and small. Internet connection is fast. The hotel is at an isolated location. It has a samll market but only open a few days a week at morning.
Overall, this is not a good place to stay when you come to ski or snow boarding, which is the major attraction of the area.

Thank you for choosing to stay with us at the Sheraton mountain vista and writing a review on our property. I do apologize for the multiple inconveniences that affected you during your stay at our resort. The shuttle service does tend to get extremely busy during the holidays since most of the hotels in Avon do not have shuttles, and for most skiers the town shuttles are the only means of transportation to the mountain. Our internet has been upgraded in the past year and like you mentioned it is fast and efficient. The parking spaces in front of the hotel are limited and can get a little crowded with multiple guests unloading to check in or being dropped off. We do recommend to our guests to use our complimentary parking garage which is heated and very convenient for unloading luggage we also do provide luggage assistance for guests that require it. Like you mentioned we do have our Vista market onsite, which has variety of products including Starbucks coffee. During that period it was open limited hours due to staffing. We have resolved that issue and the hours of operation have increased. I do apologize for the size of our premium villa not meeting your expectations. We hope you decide to comeback, and we recommend our 2 bedroom villas, which is our premium villa at 760 sq. ft, and our deluxe villa at 590 adjoining to make what we call a 2 bedroom lock of villa which is very spacious and would be suited to your needs. Please accept our sincerest apology for the many inconveniences that you encountered during your stay with us, we hope you might consider coming back, We would be thrilled for an opportunity to make it right.

We were able to trade our timeshare for a week at the Sheraton. Our timeshare was a 2 bedroom villa with cozy decor. Not as many amenities on site as the Westin but we had a full kitchen and washer and dryer in our unit. Charter Sports is located in the building if you need to get your skis/snowboards waxed. There is gym, sauna, and hot tub (inside and outside) located on the 7th floor. A shuttle comes every 15 minutes that will take you over to Beaver Creek Mountain. It picks/drops off right in front of the Sheraton. They have very helpful concierges and offer a welcome BBQ dinner every Monday night. They also provide garage parking which is nice on those really cold days.

The rooms are very comfortable and clean with flat screen tv's in the living areas and bedrooms. We stayed at the Westin last year which was gorgeous but we really enjoyed staying at the Sheraton as well. It's a different atmosphere - very cozy vs. the modern feel of the Westin. We would definitely stay here again. One downside to the place is that the main area of the villa got a little warm. The smaller one bedroom on the other side seemed to stay much cooler. But we easily adjusted by turning on the fan or cracking open the sliding glass door to the porch. And although the couches look nice, they aren't super comfy.

The location is great too - plenty of restaurants within walking distance if you don't have a car.

Thank you for your review of our property and choosing the Sheraton Mountain Vista for your getaway. As you mentioned, our property is located at an approximate location to the bus stop and the amenities within our hotel do make it convenient for all of our guests, including our complimentary parking garage that really helps on a snowy day. All of our villas have been upgraded with LED TV’s and also all new appliances have been installed. Our property like many in the mountain community here were built without air conditioning and the villas do tend to get a little warm, but like you mentioned we do have ceiling fans, and also opening the sliding door a bit, will definitely help in cooling down the villas. Once again thank you again for choosing the Sheraton Mountain Vista, and we hope to welcome you back on any future visits to the Vail Valley.

This hotel definitely exceeded our expectations. The rooms were very clean, actually looked newly renovated. The shuttle to Beaver Creek is very easy and the ski rental shop in the hotel was super convenient. We will definitely stay here again! Oh, and the concierge Brad was really helpful and always smiling!

Room Tip: Bring a robe for when you get out of the rooftop hot tub.

Not sure what they mean by "Sweet Sleeper" beds. Our 3rd floor room had the hardest bed I've ever slept on - we finally used the down comforter as a mattress pad to make it softer. Others in our group said the same.

Circuit breaker was tripped on Jacuzzi tub so it didn't work, but maintenance responded quickly.

Oven in other side of lockoff was way low on temperature and delayed our group meal.

Hinges on bathroom door were loose and door stuck until I tightened screws.

Thank you for your review of our property and for choosing the Sheraton Mountain Vista for your vacation to the Vail Valley. The evening of 10-12-12 my wife and I checked into Sheraton Mountain Vista in Avon, Colorado where we stayed a week on the 7th floor. The check in was fast and easy, then we were met by Lorie Labrant, a Vacation Services Coordinator who told us of many great things to do and see which made our first trip to Colorado outstanding.
Another Coordinator was Candace Robinson who also gave us ideas of "things not to miss" and things that people can do to help prevent getting eaten by bears (which was good as we spent many hours hiking).
The accomodations of Sheraton Mountain Vista was super, our one bedroom villa was huge, the fireplace was great, the views from our balcony that included a gas grill was wonderful and there was free wifi everywhere!
We are timeshare owners with Diamond Resorts International and stayed here on an exchange. This property is every bit as nice as our ownership properties in Diamond, but Diamond no longer has free wifi since Stephen Cloobeck became CEO (a MAJOR gripe to me as our fees keep going up and our services going down under his leadership).
I would recommend this property and the Avon area to anyone that loves great views, a great place to stay, and who loves wildlife.
Lastly, the hot tub on the 7th floor, where you are outside looking at mountains with snow on them while you swim is a "must try", even in October!

Thank you very much for reviewing our property. We are pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay with us, especially for your first visit to Colorado. The valley is a beautiful place to see at any time of year and our concierges have the top information of “what to do” during your stay. We strive to provide excellent service and will pass on your kind words to Lorie and Candace. The amenities here at the Sheraton Mountain Vista are definitely a perk, the 7th floor gym and hot tubs are frequently complimented by guests and almost all of them prefer the outside tub view. We are very happy you find our property and villas just as pleasing as you do your home resort properties. We hope you will visit the valley again and look forward to welcoming you back on your next trip to Colorado.

The Sheraton’s hotel units are compact, attractively decorated one-bedroom apartments, and therein lies the appeal. In addition to the completely separate bedroom, there is a kitchenette (without stove), 4 seat dining table and a small living room that includes a sleeper sofa. As nice as all these amenities are, the Sheraton is a mid-scale, not a luxury, property. There is no air-conditioning in the units and it was sorely missed during my October visit. Opening the windows brings round the clock road noise from the freeway on one side of the property and Avon’s main entrance on the other.

The units look exactly like they appear in the photographs- Ralph Lauren meets ski resort. However, the sofa is vinyl, not leather. The carpeting is industrial, not plush. The tub/shower is fiberglass, not tile or stone. These are meant to be examples of mid-scale vs. luxury, not complaints.

If you are going to Vail/Avon and are looking for “a real nice place to stay”, but do not have unlimited funds, I recommend the Sheraton. It blows an Embassy Suites out of the water.

Thank you for your review of our property and choosing the Sheraton Mountain Vista for your getaway. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the time you spent with us and appreciate the compliments you have to say about the villas at our property. Unfortunately, as in the case with many of the resorts in the Rocky Mountains, Sheraton Mountain Vista was built without air conditioning. The nights are comfortably cool, but it was an unseasonably warm beginning to October, and we are really very sorry to hear how the heat made you uncomfortable. We hope to welcome you back for any future visits to Avon, and the Vail Valley.

We had a wonderful vacation in this area. We visited three farmers markets in the area including Vail, Eagle and took a side trip to the Avalanche Ranch near Coaldale with their hot springs. Driving through the area with Horse farms, ranches and ski areas was beautiful. We were especially taken with the drive from Richfield UT to Green River where the diversity of geology was awesome.

Room Tip: We had a view of Beaver Creek and the Sheraton Pool.
