“Relaxing and Lovely Spot!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

We've stayed here 2 years in a row as an alternative to the expensive and tiresome routines of Aspen. For us, the easy and pretty 20-25 minute ride from Basalt for the music festivals, a meal or other activities in Aspen is an easy commute and Basalt is closer to Redstone, Carbondale and Glenwood Springs than from Aspen. As for the motel itself, if you want fancy and upscale, this motel isn't the place for you. However, if you want relaxing, comfortable and easy going lodging with ample amenities and a clear view and the the sounds of the Frying Pan River floating by, stay here (ask for riverside rooms). All is clean, well maintained and without attitude. A very good value. And, just being by the river makes it even more so.

Room Tip: Face the river!

These people are so cheap that they have outdated TVs and outdated TV shows (reruns) as well as an outdated computer in the lobby with a chair that sits about 15" off the ground. The computer is so slow it hardly works at all. Their equipment is laughable. The housekeeping didn't come until 3pm, and only if you happen to notice the sign hanging on your doorknob to request housekeeping, and then post it properly before you go out for the day, will you get it. They do not explain these things to you. When I tried to give them some feedback about upgrading the computer they argued with me. There are plenty of other places who have up to date equipment, comparable prices and offer either complimentary HBO or Direct TV. Owners, please spend a few dollars and bring your facility up to industry standards.

We've been staying at this small motel in Basalt for over 20 years. The recent remodel of the rooms gives the property a fresh updating. Although the rooms are still a basic motel style, they are clean and fresh. Basic breakfast is included in room price. Be sure to ask for a room on the river side, ground level so you can hear the rushing water in the Frying Pan River. If you are fly fishing, be sure to stop in Taylor Creek fly shop for the latest on what's working in the river. Fantastic fishing!

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the ground level, river facing.

I have been staying at this hotel for over 25 years, my dad would take me and my brother to the area to fly fish, so many memories.

Get a room on the river if you can next to the hot tub, many a great afternoon sat in that hot tub, watching the river roll by tellign old fishing tales, great place to stay in the valley for any reason, my wife and I stay here when we go to concerts/snow shoeing in Aspen!!!

Night clerk polite, staff responded well to battery low beeping from my fire detector. Property is tucked behind other businesses, weakly signed, and hard to find on a dark rainy night. Riverside Grill is right there for easy dining, but walk a block and look for the Two Rivers Cafe and Bar if you have the energy.
My rate of $109.00 plus tax was a bargain for the area, especially since I was stuck overnight from a cancelled flight and didn't want to pay a resort level rate.

I booked lodging at the Aspenalt Lodge through hotels.com. Hotels.com said there are no charges. Aspenalt had a 48 hour cancellation policy. I cancelled several days prior to the 48 hours. I was charged an inter-net booking fee. I called the hotel and told it was an inter-net booking fee. I emailed hotels.com and was told it was a hotel issue. Neither would take responsibility. Bottom line: Don't book at Aspenalt if you might have to cancell, unless you want to pay the inter-net booking fee. Don't use hotels.com as prices are just as good elsewhere and I have never had to pay an internet booking fee when cancelling reservations booked through other booking sites. Frequent Traveler GS

When you get a business rate, plan to deal with your room no matter the condition! When we used the toilet, water would leak on our feet. When explaining this to the night staff she simply said the owners are at a dinner party, can it wait until the morning, well to be nice and accomidating we said ok. (We were NEVER offered another room) So talking to the owners the next morning, she said, you already got a business discount, these things happen! GROSS! We never even received an apology! I will never stay there again, there are nicer hotels in Snowmass for cheaper prices.
If you stay there just plan on dealing with your room no matter the condition!
Also the breakfast was NOT very good either

Room Tip: Make sure you check your room before
