“Best Mexican food in town”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

Can't see why some people do not like this place. Grew up in L.A., and we know Mexican food! This is the real thing! Burittos are huge and filling with more meat than anything else. They have all kinds of different hot sauces,in which you can make everything REALLY hot! Just the way we like it! Huge menu, and open 24 hours. Can't go wrong here!

“Maybe I'm spoiled living in San Diego?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed November 28, 2011

The quality of the food here is very poor. The "guacamole" is green colored sour cream. The corn tortillas used for the tacos seem like the hard boxed ones you can buy at a grocery store. The chicken I got seemed like the processed pressed chicken product that comes standard at any fast food joint. Any Santana's I have eaten at in San Diego is miles ahead of this one.

“Chile Relleno Burrito is the yum!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2010

Had the chile relleno burrito at Santanas, and it was delish! A chile relleno, enchilada sauce, rice, and beans all wrapped up in a tortilla...and lots of pickled carrots, cucumbers, radishes and salsa on the side. The horchata was great, too, as were the chicken tacos my husband got. The place is a regular fast food joint, so no atmosphere but it was inexpensive and the food was authentic. Great place to get Mexican food. Oh! There are two locations. One in Yucca Valley, which is at the address above, and one in Joshua Tree, at the corner of Park Blvd. and Hwy 62. Both are the same!

“Decent Mexican Food at a Low Price, but AWFUL Guacamole chips basket”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2010

I tried the combination carnitas taco and chile rellenos with rice and beans. The carnitas taco was excellent, although they put the taco on top of the chili rellenos, which made the tacos hard to eat. The chili rellenos was good. The rice was so-so -- too dry. The beans were very good. The dinner overall was pretty good, but the guacamole I ordered was downright pathetic. Why do they put out green tasteless paste, call it guacamole and charge $3.50? The guacmole was the consistency of wall paste, with a translucent look. There was no evidence of avocado or tomato, just light green glop. Not only that, but they heat up the tortilla chips (topped with melted cheddar cheese) and then drip the guacamole glop all over it. The whole thing was a disaster, with the exception of the cheese covered chips that escaped the green gloppy stuff. I threw most of the chips away. Do not order the guacamole and you willl be okay here.
