Exhausted after visiting Joshua Tree, we stopped in here and booked a room, hoping we could just take a nap before finding someplace to have dinner. They charged us $54 which is a totally fair price for the motel style room. I squashed a bug on the bathroom wall, hoping that was just a fluke as the room actually seemed pretty clean. There were 2 lamps in the room and neither lights worked, so I asked the woman in the office for light bulbs. The woman was not in the office, she was squatting outside the office in the sun, picking at her face in a makeup mirror (gross). When I asked for the light bulbs she said she had to call her husband to come look into it. We waited a while while she screamed into the phone outside the motel still picking her face in the mirror. I went in the room to use the bathroom and could hear someone in a nearby room with a persistant cough. There was a sliding door in the back of the room that faced a sand filled lot, and the door did not seem to lock very well. We were pretty creeped out at this point and we just decided to cut our losses and leave. It states NO REFUNDS in bold type on your receipt. We gave the lady back the key, she was still on the phone and refused to take the key so we just kind of dropped it near her and left. We drove to Palm Springs where there are many more choices of hotels. In this town, there are very few.
