I arranged our overnight stay on the phone. The individual I spoke with did not offer any information regarding a need to request "special services" or that there would be extra charges for them. In this case the "special service" was simply a request for a downstairs room. One of our party had an arthritic knee and all they had were stairs to the second floor. We were told by the person behind the desk that if we got a room downstairs that it would cost us more. More money for a room downstairs. The reason? Because the rooms downstairs apparently have microwaves and they charge extra for those rooms. We had a budget and it was clear the person had no interest in helping us out in any way... So, we stayed with the upstairs room and hauled the luggage AND the person up AND down the stairs...4 times. When we left someone had slipped a second receipt under the door. When we compared it to the first receipt (received at our request, not offered at check-in) we saw new charges for use of a safe, which we did not use. We had to go downstairs before leaving and ask for the charges to be removed. I asked the desk person why we had been charged for the safe? He actually did not say why, simply said that someone forgot to reverse the charges. Really? How can someone forget to reverse a charge that we didn't request a reversal of? I am certain that if we had not looked at our receipt the charge (which in their "defense" was quite small) would have remained on our bill...but I have to wonder...how many people are charged this "small amount" routinely for services they don't receive? Those amounts add up to big amounts. Overall the staff was very unprofessional and uninterested in anything. The room was generic and the upstairs hall was horribly full of the smell of cigarette smoke. You either hide in your non-smoking room, or run for the outdoors it is that bad. We will NOT stay here again, nor will we recommend it to anyone else.

Don't stay here hoping for great customer service. No smile or welcome upon check-in. No "Good morning" while passing through the lobby in the morning. Too busy to be nice? The two queen room is small and the bathroom is miniature. Heat works well. Don't look behind the door in the bathroom. Since the bathroom is so small, the cleaners must leave the door open while working in there. This leaves an area behind the door to catch grime and worse

I agree that our staff should never be too busy to smile at our guest. We have made some positive changes in our staffing in a past few days to improve our product and services.
