The wife and I just got back from wine country and we had a great time; its hard not to when you love wine.
We stayed at the Oleander House for 4 days and 3 nights. Kathleen is great. She makes wonderful breakfast, fresh fruit, pastries, quiches and more.... it was a great way to start a day before drinking wine all day.
As mentioned in previous reviews, this place is right on a Highway 29, St Helena Hwy. Its a couple doors down from Mustards Grill and Brix Restaurant. Traffic on 29 moves fast, and it's sometimes difficult to turn left out of the lot (depending on traffic). If you are a light sleeper, try to get a room not facing the road.
We stayed in the Garden Room, which was located on the ground floor and faced the road. It was a little bit noisy in the morning and at night with cars & trucks driving by @ 50 MPH, but it didn't bother us much.
Oleander also had a nice little fenced in patio in the backyard, and hot tub. Although we didn't use due to the weather (rained alot while we were there). Our room had a private patio with a table and chairs to sit and enjoy that new bottle of wine purchased @ tours & tastings earlier in the day. Other rooms had private balconies.
If you are in Napa to see the wineries, this location is great. It's right down the street from Yountville, where there are many restaurants and a few shops. It's also easy access to both Highway 29 and Silverado Trail, the two main arteries for all of Napa. I definitely would stay there again.
