The entire dining experience was fabulous! We enjoyed the chef's menu with wine parings and they couldn't have been more "on" in their selections. The fun part was two chef's menus happen at the same time, so a table of four get's to try two different menus at the same sitting. I would recommend Redd to anyone!

We truly enjoyed our dining experience. The staff was great and personable. Of course, the food was to-die-for. I can't say enough good things. It was SUPERB all around

We did the tasting menu with wine pairing. Delice, but not the best. Tuna tartare was phenomenal. I don't really remember the next 3 courses. The dessert was absurd. Fried sweet corn with corn puffs on top.

On my recent trip to Napa, my family and I ate at Redd. Before my trip, I read many positive reviews about the food and ambience. When we first arrived, we enjoyed sitting at the bar , and I loved the Italian Grayhound. When we sat down at our table, the experience took a turn for the worst. First of all, since we had a group of 10, we were required to order from a pris fix menu for $65 a person. We were only given 3 first course options, 4 entrees options, 2 dessert options, and none of these were the best options on the menu. One entree was the linguine bolognese which seemed a little odd for an expensive menu! Also, our server, was very stiff, and did not smile the entire time he waited on us. Lastly, after we paid our bill the waiter, came back and said there was a mistake and that we were missed charged. On a $1300 bill, naturally, we thought we were over charged. He then told us he did not charge us $50 and would have to rerun the entire bill! We then told the manager of our poor experience. He did not seem to care. I will not return to Redd.

During our tour of Napa in mid-August 2008, my wife and I made a dinner reservation at Bouchon Bakery in Yountville, however, after reading many reviews of Redd, we decided to have dinner at Redd instead of Bouchon. What a mistake.

After being seated, no one came over to us for over 10 minutes to give us menus and ask for drinks. After ordering the tasting menu with wine for $145 per person, we waited another 15 minutes to receive our first dish. However, the dish did not come with wine, we instead had to ask for our wine. 5 minutes later, two glasses of wine were dropped off onto the table with no explanation of what the wine was or which winery the wine came from. This was repeated for the next two dishes when we finally had to ask for the manager and indicate to him that we were ready to walk out of this restaurant for such poor service. The service only improved marginally. While certain dishes were quite tasty, many of the dishes were tasteless and especially their lamb dish. We were told the lamb is raised by a farmer in Napa 'exclusively' for Redd. As a lamb enthusiast, I was eagerly awaiting to taste the meat. What a disappointment - no taste at all and it might as well been beef.

In the end, we were very upset with spending over $300 for a lousy meal!

Overall: Way overpriced restaurant that needs to go to other 5 star restaurants to learn how to properly serve food. My recommendation is to pass on Redd and try Bouchon Bakery, French Laundry or even better yet, the Rutherford Grill which is a 10 minute drive up the road.
