I have to say I like a restaurant experience, combination of great atmosphere, service and of course food. Redd hit it right on with the food, from start to finish. The lack of atmosphere at Redds slaps you in the face as soon as you walk in. It is too sterile for my taste and reminds me of a hospital cafeteria. We had a party of 6, and everyone was served delicious food, from appetizers to dessert. The service as so many others have mentioned was non-existent for us. He spoke very softly and quickly in broken English, so we felt we were pretty much on our own trying to figure out what to order. That being said, if you don't mind the negatives, the food IS superb. We probably won't be in a huge hurry to go back.

This restaurant is a bit on the pretentious side.

The hostess was very pleasant and had reassured me that something 'special' would be done since it was my wife's birthday. Nothing ever happened. I believe the waiter came from the 'B' team, inasmuch he could not describe how the food would be prepared.

For example, we asked what the Skate was like and how it would be prepared...his reply.."it is a fish and it's not too fishy".

Oh well...the meals in general were well prepared and tasty but the wait staff was defiintely not in the same league as the appearance of the restaurant.

Redd's is exceptional. Both the food and the service hit 100% every time. I have eaten there several times, mainly preferring to sit out on the terrace when the weather is nice. My friend had the short ribs which paired beautifully with a syrah. I opted for the scallops and we shared a soup, chicken lettuce wraps (not my favorite thing on the menu. It's a very average item for such an underrated, talented chef). On a seperate visit the skate was cooked to perfection, and my favorite dish had the foamed green peas and chorizo. We had this with syrah, also. We began the meal with a bottle of Pommeroy which paired nice with the chicken dish. All in all the service is exceptional and chef is, to go so far as to say, better than the French Laundry.

The food was extremely good, and the service was very friendly and accommodating.
