“Graciously Accommodating!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 8, 2014

We were starved so arrived an hour early for our reservation, willing to wait at the bar, but hoping to be seated...and voila, we were warmly welcomed and promptly seated without so much as a raised eyebrow. My guest had the trademark tomate soupe en croute and the duck with a sauce she described as "amazing". I enjoyed pate de compagne and sole with delicious, cloud-like mashed potatoes. A beautiful Crepe Suzette topped off our lovely meal and evening. Again huge thanks to all the charming staff for our evening and for maintaining traditional French cuisine. Also, I need to mention the prices of this long term Napa Valley treasure are most reasonable for this part of the world, not inexpensive but fair.

“Awesome Nappa Dinner”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 5, 2014

After a long day of winery tours we found this awesome restaurant/ bistro recommended to us by staff at Cliff Lede winery. It was perfect. We did not have a reservation however the host was able to get us an awesome table on the covered patio. The menu is extensive and very interesting items and full of great food. Awesome wine list with many of the local wines as well as international. Our server was fast friendly and funny. We had five courses including wine, and loved all of it. Especially the bacon Brussels sprouts. I would defiantly recommend this over trying to get a table at the French laundry. It was a topper after a day we thought was already perfect. Great location, lots of parking in the centre of town.

“Truly a French bistro transported to Napa! Cute, fun, fab food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2014

It is funny how they made the interior of the restaurant exactly like 18-19th century buildings in Paris, right down to the creamy yellow walls, water pipes and electrical wires running along the walls, dark wood bar and floors, wooden tables and chairs, tiny vestibule and TV above the bar. Except you know you're in California because it's sunny and there are no tall buildings across a narrow street that would otherwise completely block any light from getting in. And no choking cigarette smell.

I could eat there every day for 3 weeks before I ate everything appealing on the menu. All the classic French diner stuff is there: multiple pates and rillettes of many different animals, croques Madame et Monsieur, cornichons, other pickled vegetables, onion soup, salad and sandwich Nicoise, cassoulet (which is what I had, and it serves 2 as an entree), mussels, pommes frites, coq au vin, raw oysters, smoked salmon..... Just everything you can think of served in a little hole in the wall place in Paris.

And the never ending Epi bread with salted butter.

And if you like the classic European sprits like Campari and Pernod and all of that herbal, floral stuff in your mixed drinks, you will love it here. If you can't eat, just sit at the bar.

This is casual, not dress-up at all. It is loud, filled with people munching their pommes frites and eating their sausage and duck legs and washing it down with inexpensive wine or beer, laughing. It's fun!

“Fine French Fare with a fabulous rustic / country touch.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2014

1st off it is french restaurant but it's not stuffy. Wait staff was impeccable (Thanks Jamie) and very knowledgeable. The specials come on a small chalk board to your table so they become part of the regular menu. The Rabbit with papardelle pasta was exquisitely good and the scallops were close behind. Portion size was good. Bring a bottle from your wine tour ($20 corkage) or choose from their extensive list. Full cocktail selection is available too. Spend some time and enjoy the experience - it's wortth it!

“A little too much hype”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 25, 2014

this was our second visit to Bistro Jeanty and I have to say this was just as disappointing as the first time. The food was good, but nothing outstanding and certainly way below expectation. I suspect that is the problem - I have read too much hype of Bistro Jeanty. Being in the french part of Canada, we get better French food at home, so perhaps, this is my issue.

We were a group of four - two had the beef bourgignon which was good and the coq au vin (chicken stewed in white wine), and steak frites. The steak was tough, but the coq au vin was very good and the beef bourgignon was just good. Nice presentation in the french cast iron dishes. The liver mouse was the best if you like pate! Service was most definitely spotty - had to wait a long time for our meal, candles fizzled out, and little to no attention to us on how we were doing (also very French).

My two cents - if you want the French experience - they deliver it (food and service). Nothing overly special.
