“Great Napa-Area Jewel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2013

Went here on a recommendation of a friend and it was great. Had the tomato soup in puff pastry which was unreal. Also had beef bourgonione (sp?) and the speciak which was lamb chops with blue cheese, potatoes, and harticorts verts. I don't know how to spell these things but we knew how to eat them just fine! Our table for 2 in front of the fireplace was charming. It's not cheap (nothing in this area is), but after a 2-hour meal of deliciousness we felt it was money well spent.

Also, Yountville is charming and worth a detour off of the highway for strolling through town. Don't miss that.

“Great food, but....”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

Had a wonderful meal here, but we were seated in the front room. It was very warm and when we looked into the back room, it was even warmer in there. That said however, the back room is MUCH nicer, and I kind of felt like a third class citizen sitting in front, which was relatively empty with absolutely no atmosphere. For that kind of money (dinner was not cheap, nor did we expect it to be) frankly, I want more atmosphere. Service was excellent and food delicious!

“Good food, authentic French Bistro”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 21, 2013

In the heart of Yountville. Get reservations, you will need them, and unless you tip the host at the door you can expect to be seated by the outside exit to the dumpster. OK once past that, the food was excellent, the service adequate. Tomato soup the best ever, great mussels and pom frittes, Chocolate mousse creme brulle for dessert was outstanding.

“Very good French Bistro fare”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013 via mobile

Had dinner here last night. The restaurant has 2 dining rooms inside as well a an outside eating area. This place really has an authentic Bistro ambience. All the classic French menu items are available such as coq au vin, pâté, etc. The service was efficient. My one issue was the noise level. The restaurant was full and we had a table inside. The inside dining rooms are small with the tables close together. I have never minded this. Having eaten in New York and Europe gets you used to that. But you could not even speak without having to yell at your dining partner just to be heard. I suggest eating at one of the outside tables.

“The epitome of neighbourhood chic.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

What a pleasure it was to dine here. This is a place that really values and embraces it's clientele. The warmth of welcome to returning patrons was a joy to behold . The staff appeared in general to have been here some time - in the best possible way - secure in their roles and the place worked like a well oiled, polite but fun machine. It was a glorious day so we enjoyed lunch "au plein air", which only ever improves already great food. The menu was varied enough that I was torn between two or three choices, this is a rare occurrence for me. Mr Loafer had the Camembert au Four, followed by mussels in red wine. I had salmon carpaccio and a chicken main. However I did suffer from some plate envy as the dishes I didn't choose were ordered by folks on surrounding tables. There was a nice kind of nodding and smiling interaction between fellow diners here, not something we experienced in general on our sojourn through Napa. When l'addition arrived it was all very reasonable to boot. I would return in a heartbeat - just a small travel issue to overcome when based in the UK.
