Description: Highly acclaimed chef Thomas Keller (of The French Laundry) is behind this beautiful Yountville restaurant. Enjoy excellent French bistro cuisine in a dining room offering wonderful Parisian ambiance. We invite you to visit Bouchon Bakery, an authentic, country-style boulangerie located next door Bouchon Bistro. The Bakery serves traditional French breads and pastries and is open from 7am - 7pm daily.

“Delicious...worth a visit again and again.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

We visited the bakery twice during our recent visit to Yountville. Everything there was delicious and fresh baked daily. Incredible pastries, cookies, bread, and (we heard, but did not try) coffee. The staff is friendly, quick and helpful. The line looks long but moves very quickly. Our favorites were the pain de chocolat, the nutter butter cookie (really, try it), and the bouchons. Don't miss a visit here.

“Food is good, but not great...and it is way too loud.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Bouchon has some great points, but isn't quite up to 5 or even 4 stars, because of the atmosphere.

The food is good. Our steak was well cooked and presented, but had a little too much onion on top--my husband scraped it off so that he could taste the meat better. The side of frites were plentiful and crispy. My salad had a bit too much oil in the dressing and of my two langoustines (butter-poached), one was perfect and the other too soft. The specials are delicious and don't cost outrageously more than the regular menu. The bouchon dessert (little chocolate brownie-like cakes with ice cream and caramel sauce) is fantastic--don't miss it. Also, the service is quick and attentive. You will not be waiting forever for your food even though the restaurant is full. Your reservation gets you seated very quickly.

However, it's very noisy. That's not unexpected in a french-style bistro, just something to note since the prices may make it seem like it should be quieter. The bar area, which is right next to seating, attracts quite a few loud wine-drunkards (one can only assume think they think is more classy to get drunk on expensive wine). It's difficult to hear the server because it is so loud. Tables for two are tiny, so it's difficult to eat comfortably if you have a salad and an appetizer as your meal.

Overall, it is 3.5 star food with a 3 star atmosphere.

Note: If you like the bread selections or the bouchons in this restaurant, you can head next door to the bakery and get more.

“Thomas Keller (The French Laundry) wonderful bakery!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

This place is great! But expect lines in the morning for pastries and coffee. Its worth the wait! It is just down the street from the world famous French Laundry and a wonderful place to people watch and have a great continental breakfast.
