First, this hotel is located in Yountville (not Napa as Tripadvisor as it designated). It makes it difficult when searching for hotels in Yountville and this one does not show up when we were looking for hotels in Tripadvisor. We almost missed it! And that would have been a shame as the hotel is very nice. Our room faced a creek with a nice patio that we could relax and have coffee and dine on the fabulous pastries/fruit/bagels/juices they provide as part of the complimentary breakfast.
We enjoyed a soak in the hot tub after a day of hiking at Robert Lous Stevenson park up in Calistoga. Also, hiking at closer Bothe - Napa Valley State Park was excellent.
We were hoping to be able to walk to the French Laundry for dinner but it is about 7/10ths of a mile away and in nice clothes, wasn't feasible. The French Laundry, btw, was an amazing event. Six hours of dining.
The only negative of our entire trip was the extremely rude clerks at the front desk. When we checked in, no one was there and when she finally came out, actually rolled her eyes and sighed. Despite being told our room would be ready upon arrival, she said no it wasn't. We walked downtown and shopped for an hour and half and came back and two different clerks were now at the desk. They also couldn't be bothered and quickly said the room was not ready. Their tone of voice was belittling and despite having traveled for many years, I have never encountered that many rude front desk clerks. It wasn't until a delightful, intelligent woman named Melanie arrived at work and suddenly the whole atmosphere changed. She must have been a manger or supervisor cause our room was ready within seconds of her arrival and the other rude clerks suddenly became quiet.
We do plan on returning (we would like to try Ad Hoc next door and we can easily walk there from this hotel) but we cringe thinking about having to deal with those rude front desk clerks.
