There is no doubt this is a high quality resort and we don't mind paying top dollar but do have equally high expectations that should be met in this price range.
When we arrived the staff were fabulous from the valet parking, to the porter service to the guided tour of the hotel with cold glass of chardonnay each, we could not have expected any better. Particular compliments to Katie who was delightful & very helpful.
The rooms are spacious and well appointed with everything you could want in a hotel room.
Where our expectations we're let down was with breakfast, we chose to have it in our room on our first morning and were disappointed as I can only describe it as average and way overpriced for what we had. The second morning, we walked across the road to Bouchon Bakery & had a fabulous breakfast for less than half the price. Bardessono charging $6 plus tax plus delivery fee plus tip for a cup of tea in the room while offering a free cup if you walk over to the restaurant seems a little like price gouging to this humble reviewer. I am not sure what they are trying to achieve with that policy.
By the way, the location is fabulous, right in the heart of Yountville.
We had lunch with friends at Lucy's on the day we arrived and we all enjoyed the food and once again the service was outstanding, with particular compliments to Eric who was most helpful.
Our package included Sunday Supper which was a degustation at Lucy's on, you guessed it, Sunday evening. The food was fine being well cooked and presented but we were slightly disappointed with the wine matching as not much explanation on the wines themselves and the serving size was on the less generous side.
My wife had a spa treatment in the room which was wonderful, she thoroughly enjoyed it particularly being able to relax in the room afterwards then enjoy a spa.
Perhaps our most disappointing experience was at check out. My wife rang the concierge to request a porter to assist with the luggage and we were advised that they would be over soon. She then walked over to complete the checkout while I waited for the porter. Her treatment at the checkout bore no resemblance to that received at check-in, not friendly but rather cold and dismissive. There was no receipt provided and she sat & waited for me as the porter had not yet arrived to collect the bags.
I had to request one of the maids to check where the porter was as. I had waited quite some time and there was still no sign of them. They finally turned up and were most apologetic, as there had been a mix-up. This is just one of those things that happen while travelling and was not part of the disappointment.
Our departure from Bardessono was a real let down and certainly not what I expect from a high end property.
Overall, on balance we felt that the value did not match the price. While the staff were fabulous for our entire stay - except for checkout. - all the plus, plus, plus add ons took away from the experience.
With all of my reviews I am much more critical as we move up the price points, hence the length of this review.

You're very generous with the headline of your review - Almost perfect.
Your stay was far from perfect and I apologize for what was clearly not our best effort. Bad and overpriced breakfasts are inexcusable, as was your checkout experience with us. I also apologize for the less-than-inspiring wine pairings and explanation you received at Sunday supper.
I'm glad your checkin lived up to your expectations and that our Katie took good care of you, but it would seem your stay went downhill from there.
We all apologize and do hope you'll return to us one day. Please make your arrangements through me, should you choose to.
