“Great option in Napa”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2013

Being a resident of the SF Bay Area, I've done my share of day trips as well as overnight trips to the Napa Valley. These days, I just stay in Yountville and leave the driving up and down Hiway 29 to the rest of the crowds. Yountville has a great selection of tasting rooms, shopping, and restaurants (French Laundry and Redd Wood, anyone?), and hotels - Villagio Inn and its sister property, Vintage Inn, being two of them. The rooms in both are pretty identical -- spacious, comfy bed, Nespresso machines, and we often get upgraded to a suite on the second floor which has a nice balcony. The breakfasts are great in both, though the one in Villagio Inn is a bit more generous. Overall, Villagio is a bigger property so their afternoon activities (tea, wine tasting, bar offerings) are better. The spa is here, too, and I've never had a bad experience there, both in terms of service or cleanliness. I've often stayed here when there's a special occasion (b'day, anniversary), which I mention when I'm making the reservation, and the staff never fails to recognize it by having a bottle of bubbly delivered to my room (in addition to the complimentary bottle of wine that comes with every reservation). I highly recommend both properties!

We were thrilled to have booked a room at the Villagio Inn and Spa after reading reviews and seeing pictures. The web site flashed a summer special and when we called, the reservation agent even suggested it, so we took it. When we arrived, our welcome was less than inviting. The bartender slid a welcome drink our way, not saying anything. The agent was on the phone the whole time we were checking in. When he handed us the map of where our room was, it appeared we were next to a parking lot so I inquired. He said we would be next to the highway which was a bit noisy and a parking lot. He also said we had a view of the vineyards. He then said there were no other rooms available to switch. and since we "booked a cheaper room" that was the room we get. It was obvious, by few cars in the parking lot, that they were not booked. So thank you very much for your passive aggressive way of judging us and deflating our excitement of being in Wine country. I agree with another review that the agents were not people friendly but more robotic in their job. No smiles, no welcome to the Villagio. When we arrived to our room, it was very nice. We looked off of our balcony to be surprised by our view of a ton of trees, parking lot trees. No vineyards anywhere in sight. The noise was horrific from the highway as well. It turns out it was too cold to sit on a balcony anyway, so we paid extra for nothing. From the moment we arrived in California, we were stunned at how warm and friendly every hotel had been. The people seemed so genuine and welcoming. Not at the Villagio, I am sorry to say. I would suggest to management to either train the staff to be more welcoming and friendly, or fire them altogether and get new staff. Sorry for the honesty.

A few good points: the room, with a welcome bottle of wine, was very nice. The breakfast was very nice as well. Kudos to the concierge, who was very friendly and helpful! She was our last experience at the Inn so we thank her for the positive energy.

If you don't mind the staff issues, then the Villagio Inn could be a positive experience. It is located in a perfect place.

Room Tip: If you book an advertised "special", beware...of the consequences.

We thank our guest for their detailed account of their stay with us, of course we were disappointed to learn that their Villagio visit was not what they had anticipated. First off, I'd like to apologize to our guest for their negative impression of the room that they were checked in to, we do our best to assign our guests the best available room based on their preferences at the time of check in however if and when our hotel is full our options are very limited. Having said that, we agree that guest service agent should have been a bit more empathetic to our guest's circumstance, if they were in fact inappropriate in their wording and/or manner, we will definitely investigate. Lastly, we appreciate the positive feedback that was given within the same review and will pass onto our lead concierge how pleased our guests were with the friendly and helpful manner in which they were treated. My girlfriend picked Villagio by the nice pictures on there website. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was GREAT! The problem was the spa. The services are in line with other spas, the service how ever leaves a lot to be desired. The services performed were less than adiquait at best. It is a nice place to stay, don't waste your money on the spa services.

My husband and I stopped at the villagio in June for a 3 night stay as part of our Honeymoon. We had high expectations and the villagio did not disapoint. From the minute we walked in we were congratulated. We had a couples spa treat and it was by far the best spa experience i have ever had, the facilities are outstanding. The pool area is beautiful with drinks available all day and also canapes in the bar area in the afternoon. Our first night we were treated to a bottle of Champagne in the room which was so thoughtful. This hotel is so romantic and perfect for couples, will for sure make our way back at somepoint from the UK.

This hotel is an oasis away that will derail you from going wine tasting, and because you will want to enjoy the hotel and all that it offers.

The Villagio Inn has a beautiful pool with cabanas, ample towels, and relaxing lounges. In addition, the pool is clean and a little bit of Napa heaven.

The rooms are beautifully decorated with charming accessories, a complimentary bottle of wine, fully-stocked nespresso machine, L'Occitanne products, and robes! What more can you want.

The brunch spread was diverse with omelets, waffles, a traditional breakfast spread, and of course mimosas, bloody mary's and greyhounds.

Finally, if you can make it to the Spa, it is beautiful. Clean and inviting steam rooms, hot tubs, and outside patios make this a perfect retreat.

It is definitely work the stay. The location is perfect for grabbing dinner at all the wonderful restaurants or popping into Bouchon for some macarons. All in all, Napa perfection.

The bed and comforter and pillows were top notch! Been to many hotels and this one rate high for comfort! The room had everything you can want. The TV was set to soothing music as you came into the door. A bottle of wine was sitting on the table. You get turn-down service with Evian water. Toiletries were the best quality. Robes in the closet. The only complaint that I could muster on the room would be the spiders. Giving them a break for being in the valley but, maybe exterminator should be ramped up! It's a good thing my daughter was staying there!
We were busy everyday wine tasting so, the last day we had some down time to go to the pool which was a great temperature..... we had to leave after an hour because of a private party at the pool. Not sure how I feel about this mater.
Breakfast was terrible... until the last day because we were early to travel to the airport! When we got there the other three days later and you had to fight for the last piece bread to toast! They were slow to refill anything! Same with tea time. Our time was really off! We just get back from wine tasting all day... only to have remnants and the staff taking it away!
A really good thing though was that the hotel did have is a shipper to ship your bottles of wine that you over bought! We had 6 bottles shipped and opted for a 2 day shipping. and it has been 2 days and I haven't received it yet. But, I am optimistic so in hopes it will be tomorrow!

We stayed at the Villagio Inn and Spa in the beginning of July! Perfect location in and amongst shops, restaurants and even a couple of small wineries. The hotel was nothing but class and service. The room was very large and bed extremely comfortable. The pool was beautiful and a great place to unwind after a day of wine tasting. The pool service was a bonus. The breakfast was simply amazing with a waffle and omelet station. Champagne and orange juice started your day off on the right foot. The hotel was a perfect pick for our first stop on a California road trip. Class, class, class!!!!
