My husband and I spent part of our honeymoon here in 2004, and have returned every year except this past year when we stayed in the Sonoma area. Big mistake! Petit Logis is our home away from home, and part of the reason we look forward to visiting the Valley. Please note that if you need a concierge, a spa, room service and general pampering you will get none of that here. However, if you are like me and most people I know and simply want a sublimely comfortable place to relax you should book here immediately.
Pros: I could go on about this subject forever, but the location truly cannot be beat. Yountville is one of the most charming towns I have ever visited, and is wonderfully located if your main interests are wine and food. It is a great base from which to explore many of the superb wineries but it must also be said that the amount of excellent restaurants within walking distance to the inn will take your breath away. Bouchon Bakery right next door is another huge plus (because of this little gem I would not recommend booking the breakfast option with the room). The inn owner, Jay, has also been very helpful to me whenever I have phoned. It may be odd that in the four times I've stayed here I only actually saw him once - but that one time he graciously let me log on to his office computer to take care of some business from home. The rooms are also outstanding. Understated but extremely spacious, comfortable and everything you might want , unless you are high maintenance. Cozy fireplace, GREAT bathroom (jacuzzi tub big enough for two, seperate stone shower), and very, very quiet - I have never heard a single peep from any other guest in all the times I've stayed there. And all of this excellence comes at a price, which is among the cheapest in Napa Valley (certainly very low priced for Yountville). There are only 5 rooms here so availability may be scarce in high season - we usually stay in winter since that is our favorite time to visit Napa. Also, all rooms have the same amenities - decor is slightly different but all have queen bed, fireplace, exact same bathroom, etc.
As far as cons, I can't think of a single one from my perspective, but again, the lack of personal attention and onsite amenities such as restaurant and pool might be offputting to some so that is worth considering. Personally I think it is the height of charming that "late check in" consists of a note being taped to the office door with the key to your room inside. It is in keeping with the relaxed country atmosphere.
My husband and I visit Napa area annually and Petit Logis is truly the next best thing to having our own vacation home there.
