I normally don't add to these reviews unless I see a glaring problem.
My husband and I attempted to stay at M.F. about a year ago. Check in was fine, the place looked cute, and the self-service soda/drinks was a nice touch. The decor looks much nicer on the website and when we arrived the place was a little cluttered and worn looking. When we walked into our room I was very disappointed. It was dark, the carpeting had numerous stains on it, the bathroom needed some serious cleaning and updating, and the "white" sheer curtains were in desperate need of washing --they were gray. Add to this, the room smelled very strongly of deodorizer. Both of us have allergies / asthma. Within minutes, my husband was wheezing --there was no way we could have spent the night in that room. We brought this to the attention of the front desk who firmly informed us that we should have notified them in advance not to use any sprays in the room. (I've never heard of any such thing). After some discussion, we were given a portion of our $ back, less than half of the cost of the reservation. After the last two "amazing" reviews, I finally had to speak up. Beware if you have asthma or allergies and if you want a clean room. Basically, our visit to MF was the most money we've ever paid for a diet coke.

“LOVED it!”

Maison Fleurie

This was the coolest place I have ever stayed! The staff was awesome, especially considering they were able to check us in really early when we arrived. We came off 4 days of camping in Sequoia and Yosemite, and this place was fabulous. It was perfectly adorable. They also had great restaurant recommendations. Their wine selection for their evening wine and appetizer reception could have been better, but that was still great! We were even able to check out bikes and ride through a wonderful 6 mile trail through beautiful vineyards that the staff recommended. I was a little leery of the breakfast on first glance in the morning since it was buffet-style, but the food was fabulous! Everything here was great, and I really can't wait to visit it again! It's a perfect getaway for any couple for any amount of time. We were there for one night, but I could have easily stayed for a week! It made our wine country trip well worth it.

“Very nice retreat in the Napa Valley”

Lovely Inn in the heart of Napa Valley. We found the staff helpful, our room was clean and the common areas lovely. The afternoon wine reception was very good and the morning breakfast well above average. Masion Fleurie is a delightful place to stay. My rating is based upon staying in one of the cosier rooms ($173 inc taxes). I am not sure I would have the same perspective if we were in the pricier rooms. The Inn is very nice and in a great location, but not outstanding

“Perfect B&B”

Maison Fleurie

May 11, 2007

Maison Fleurie is what a B&B should be. We were a little worried after reading some reviews here but our stay was perfect. We stayed in room #8 which was clean, large and very quiet. Hot tub and pool area were beautiful, lined with flowers and private. They thought of everything--wine and cheese in the afternoon, bikes for a ride in the morning, newspaper every morning, towels by the pool and a wonderful breakfast with best oatmeal my husband ever tasted. Obviously lots of care goes into maintaining a property like this which has old world charm with modern ammenities. Staff was friendly and helpful. We will definitely return!

I have to agree with the review that speaks to the lack of cleanliness at the property. I got a discounted rate because I booked just a few days before I arrived. Thank goodness as I would have been pretty unhappy paying $285 a night for a room that should have been much, much less. While it was a large room (too large in my opinion) it was frumpy and dated looking. Not luxurious at all and not propertly maintained. The bathroom was pretty grungy and the room was generally dark and unwelcoming.

Having always wanted to stay at one of the 'sisters' inns I was pretty disappointed. I will say that the amenities were nice. The evening wine and cheese was a nice touch and morning breakfast was well appointed, although fairly basic. The pool and hot tub were well located too but again, not particularly appealing or well maintained. I will book elsewhere when in the Napa area again.
