When there is even a hint of warm and sunny weather there is not better place to spend a nice afternoon in Wrightwood than at the Village Grind. I often walk my dog to town and stop in for some superb wine tasting and a nice lunch. The patios are "dog-friendly" and the proprietor (Linda or Greg) will even bring a water dish out for your four-legged companion. If you are lucky (and on the rare occassion, "unlucky") there may be live music on the patio, too. The artists performing range from excellent to "don't-quit-your-day-job;" but part of the fun is checking out the acts and making your own judgement.
The food is top-notch for a coffee/wine bar establishments. It is not gormet dineing for sure, but a wide selection of sandwiches, wraps, and often a daily special. The apatizers, however, are the best in town: cheese platters, pesto pizzas, quesadillas, etc; they compiment, espeically, the wine.
As for the wine tasting, Greg only picks the best for tasting and serving. I am not a wine drinker, per se (prefering beer over wine..and they do have a limited selection of beers, too), but Greg has made me appreciate wine becasue of his expertice and determination only to serve the best.
