“Better Off At Motel 6”

We needed a place to sleep on our way home from Oregon. I am used to this sort of budget hotel for just a night's stay, not as a vacation destination, but even so....YUCK. For some reason, the Best Western and other better grade motels were booked, so we landed here. I truly wish we would've just gone to the Motel 6 instead...it would have been cleaner, newer, and better maintained. This place smelled of old food, had cheap, thin wood doors and just an overall sense of disrepair. There were no elevators, and we were on the third floor, up some rather steep flights of stairs.

The only good thing I can say is that it made our family of 4 extra motivated to get dressed and out the door early, so we could continue the drive south toward home!

I booked a room here through travelocity.com The rate I paid was $62.00 for the night plus taxes, etc. That rate was considerably cheaper then daysinn website.

The motel is easy to get to. It's right off of I-5. Woodland is kind of a small town. Downtown is west of the motel. There are lots of places to eat downtown, I saw a couple of pubs and what not. I ate at a "Family" Restaurant right next to the motel named Rafael's (if I remember right). I had the all you can eat "Mexican Buffet" YUCK!!! So nasty, I wouldn't feed it to my dog!

As far the motel itself, the carpet was very worn, wrinkled and obviously hadn't been re-stretched in ages. The room didn't smell. The A.C. worked well. The king sized bed was firm to my liking. The shower head was so low I had to bend down to rinse my hair, I'm 6 feet tall.

My advice would be to check out the Motel 6 right next to it. The rate is probably cheaper than the $62 I paid!

My wife walked in and walked out right away.... YUK! was her comment. Drove up the street and stayed at Holiday Inn Express.
The lobby looked like a bank in the inner city. First impressions are everything. If you travel with your wife think 3 times before you make a reservation here.

Woodland Days Inn

We're staying in the Woodland Days Inn right now (I'm posting this using their free wireless internet).

Overall, the hotel is dated and worn. The furniture is barely hanging on (this table in my room is creaky and wobbly). But that's no big deal.

The main problem is the smell. As soon as you walk into the lobby, there is a very strong curry/spice smell. The owner or operator is East Indian, and apparently lives in the hotel and cooks very spicy food there, and the entire hotel has a very, very strong smell. Maybe I'd feel differently if I was East Indian, but as a Canadian, it is horrible.

This was our last resort ... we hadn't booked anything for this leg of our road trip, but if we had any other options we wouldn't be here. Neither should you.
