I was not expecting much when I came to Osaka because Woodland is not a highly populated area, however, I did hear that this restaurant used to reside in Davis and then moved. Not sure if that is true or not but either way, I was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the experience greatly. Osaka had a great hot sake and I ordered the ahi tuna appetizer which was served in a ponzu sauce with soy and sesame seed. I received 8 generous portions of sliced tuna and enjoyed this dish very much. I also had two specialty sushi rolls (the “Spider roll” and the “Main Street”) and both were excellent. The Spider roll was crunchy, fresh and tasted just like soft shell crab should topped with a orange-red sauce with a slight punch and dabbed with spots of sriracha and the “Main Street” had slices of fresh tuna and avocado. I highly recommend this place if you like sushi and are in the area. The restaurant décor had hard wood floors, brick walls and a elegant, black iron circle stairway to the upper floor which was inviting and cozy. Service was pretty good and I had no complaints. I am not sure if there are any other sushi areas in the immediate area (Davis specifically) but even if there are, I am sure Osaka is very competitive.
