We selected the Hampton Inn Windsor after reading many reviews in and around Sonoma County. This seemed to have everything that we wanted...

Location... convenient to wineries, restaurants and shops.
Affordable.... while we would have loved to stay in a smaller hotel, it was Valentines weekend and there was either a minimum night stay or prices were much higher than what we were willing to pay.
Comfort.... sometimes, when you do not plan on spending a lot of time in your hotel, it's nice to go with a chain where you know you will get a certain high standard of quality and cleanliness. Hampton's (and Hilton Hotels in general) are usually pretty good, as was the case here.
Previous Reviews...other people highly recommended this hotel, so why not!

Overall we found the Hampton Windsor to live up to all of its previous reviews. It was very clean, served a delicious breakfast, was centrally located and had a VERY FRIENDLY and accommodating staff. Amy, the front desk clerk was most helpful to us throughout our stay.

However, what we didn't read in previous reviews was how "noisy" this hotel is, Even though it is several blocks away from the 101 Highway, it is situated on one side by a very busy local road and on the other side by a frontage road and the 101. Our first room was unbelievably loud. Added to this, there was a refrigerator/microwave cabinet that is conveniently located directly across from the head of the bed. Between the traffic and the refrigerator turning on and off all night, it was not a restful sleep at all.

The next morning we asked to have our room changed. We were upgraded to a larger room so the refrig/microwave cabinet was not by our heads and moved to the second floor so there might be a little more sound buffer. While this room was better, we were still able to clearly hear the traffic noise from the 101 and now heard the HVAC noises which sounded like someone was warming up a car all night. We wound up checking out a day early just so that we could get a full nights sleep.

This is not the ideal hotel for light sleepers! A thank you to the staff, however, who really tried to remedy the problem.

Just off the freeway, it is an excellent affordable location to use as a base for exploring the wine country. Guy Fieri's restaurant is just across the street - great food! Hampton's usual great selections for breakfast in a very nice breakfast room, with big screen TV, and board games available.

We've stayed at many Hampton Inns..This was our first time to stay at this one in Windsor...
The best part is the breakfast/reception room....Very stylish and comfortable....Couches, tables, two sided fireplace, center tall eating bar with stools, and many breakfast tables....Super high ceiling, maybe 20 feet or more? Food was average,OK, the next morning....

Our room (top floor, #339) was a "standard king room"...It was the smallest "standard room" I have ever seen at a Hampton so far...And quite dated all around really, but still nice...
The heater unit was quite noisy (it was icy cold outside). Had to turn it off to sleep.
The bathroom fan stayed on permanently, (wished we could of turned it off) and we could hear the central exaust fan off in the distance....
Also, we could hear the freeway zooming by....(window faced freeway). ..Just too many noises here and I specifically asked for a "quiet" room...This wasn't it....We still slept well!
Was able to walk to the Town Green for dinner and shopping...
Location is in a busy, but nice, neighborhood..

Staff was pleasant at check-in. Walked by the front desk many times, coming and going, and never saw anyone there again on our stay...

Not sure I'd stay here again...

Very friendly staff, great breakfast choices, nice clean hotel and great location. Would recommend highly!
