“One Step Above”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Though this place wouldn't rank as high if competing against the "Big Boys" of the motel business, it is definitely one of the brighter lights in the Motel 6 chain. I stayed in Rm. 104, right next to handicapped parking, as requested. The room was clean, quiet, well appointed, internet accessible and pet friendly. Would have preferred a less garish color, but that's just my taste. The furniture was minimalist -- just an "easy chair" and one pull-out chair for the built-in desk/table, but the king-sized bed was SUPER comfortable. The electrical outlets were thoughtfully positioned to make computer plug-in convenient, and internet was included in the room price. Other pluses were the fridge and microwave (not common at Motel 6), wall-mounted flat-screen TV with hookups for gaming equipment and better than average channel selection, a multi-spray shower head that actually worked, soap, shampoo and lotion dispensers -- AND it's right down the street from one of my favorite eateries, the Black Bear Diner. It also had a well-placed pool that wasn't open at this time of year.

Okay, now for the down sides: The towels were less than white; the pseudo-wood flooring made the room hollow-sounding, no coffee pot or tissues, and there was little area provided to "curb" one's dog. These are all trivial, though. My one MAJOR complaint was the fact that the smoke alarm woke me from sleep, beeping to have its battery changed. When I tried to call the front desk to request a replacement, I discovered that the phone didn't work. The battery was promply changed once I walked over to the office, but the situation left a bad taste in my mouth. I felt that -- for safety's sake -- smoke alarm batteries should have been changed on a regular schedule BEFORE they outdated. Renovation is fine and dandy, but if the basics of good accommodations are not maintained, it's all for naught. Safety is NOT the place to cut corners.

Everyone is entitled to one slip up, however. Hopefully, the branch will learn from this review and the complaint I left in my room, and take steps to avoid such a thing from happening again.

All in all, it was obvious that this hotelier was trying to provide a pleasant night's stay for its customers, and in most aspects, succeeded. I will definitely give the Willows Motel 6 another chance.

Room Tip: Black Bear Diner right down the street gives Skymiles credits.

Reasonably priced, newly renovated, clean. Sparsely furnished - but that's ok. The issue is that it is a badly constructed building, so there is ZERO noise suppression between rooms both vertically and horizontally. Possible to hear quiet conversations next door, or the TV downstairs that the occupants left in while they slept.

I stumbled across this Motel 6 after returning from a very long month of camping and couch surfing while travelling across NoCal and I wasnt expecting much but just needed a cheap place to rest my head for the evening. I was pleasantly surprised when I got to my room with the updated decor and shining interior! It definatly surpassed my expectations for a Motel 6. There was a large flat screen TV with lots of stations including premium channels. Also it was a nice touch that they had a liquid soap and lotion dispenser next to the sink and shampoo and shower gel dispenser in the shower. The room even had a large mini fridge and microwave. Also the bed was very comfy. I would definatly recomend this to anyone, it is not your typical Motel 6!

Room Tip: I stayed in Room 104, althought the front desk advised me the upstairs rooms are quieter, but I didn...

Situated near to I-5 in Willows, California, this is an older motel with refurbished rooms. Helpful staff, fair price. I would suggest not getting a room near the office as there is a very noisy machine (possibly an ice machine) just outside the office. If you are looking for a motel with the basics at a reasonable price this one could work for you. --rg

Room Tip: There is a certain amount of noise from Interstate 5. Rooms farther away from I-5 are naturally quie...

This doesnt look like much from the outside, but the rooms are a step up from most of this brand.
In comparison to most hotels from the Motel 6 brand...this was a suite!

Would stay again, would reccomend.

In the back of beyond, uber-modern, almost Japanese-style! Really nice Front Desk; props to Sarah who recognized my very butch wife & I as a female couple, something often missed in our more cosmopolitan SF hometown. And if all of this wasn't enough, the room did not stink of cleaning products or "air fresheners"! For home cooked food drive across the freeway to Nancy's Airport Cafe; nothing fancy, just a decent hot meal for road-weary travellers.

Room Tip: Bring your dog & AAA card!

I was on my way to oregon and decided to stop and sleep for a couple of hours. I figured for 60 bucks just to sleep wasn't a bad deal. The room was amazing and really clean! I arrived late around 3 am, the man at the desk was very friendly and gave me a good deal on a room. The only thing that i would recommend for this hotel would be to have a simple continental breakfast, even if it is just danishes and juice. They did offer coffee in the morning but i had to go to mcdonalds to feed my 2 year old. Will stay here again in a heartbeat!
