I stayed at the Baechtel Creek Inn and Spa last week and had a wonderful stay. A friend and I got a flat tire passing through Willits and no shops were open so we had to find a place to stay for the night. We checked around to see what the town had to offer, this hotel was by far the nicest and the only one that was located off of the highway and away from the all the traffic noise!

The Hotel had all these really neat custom themed rooms’ available as well as regular upgraded and standard rooms. We checked in late but the service was spectacular, they offered a pool and hot tub, clean quiet rooms, free wifi, and they even had an on site spa that offered different types of massages, facials, and body treatments.

The hotel grounds were kept, non smoking, and they had a lovely patio area with a relaxing fountain to sit and enjoy the sunshine. The hotel was next to a beautiful creek, and the staff sent us to a great place for lunch. She also filled us in about about the Skunk Train, Ridgewood Ranch, the Redwoods, the ocean that is only 25 miles away, and a lot of other festivals and events that take place in the area.

I was quite pleased with my stay, and would highly recommend that you check this place out if your looking for an exceptional getaway.

We stayed in 2007/July. Room had NO Working AC. The temp was ~98(High of the Day). Shower water- slow speed, Terrible Breakfast. When we asked the Front desk, you have the last room. Not willing to Cancel our reservations and return the Money, so we can go and stay some where else. Next day morning at check out time, the Front desk said- Sorry, If ew had known we could have placed you some where else!!- different ball game. they basically wanted to get ~$220 to their account!!

“Seabiscuit Room is so beautiful”

I had the pleasure of staying at the Baechtel Inn a couple of years ago and really enjoyed my stay. So it was an easy choice when I had to return to Willits, CA again. The Baechtel Creek has some of the nicest suites around. I had the pleasure of staying in the Seabiscuit room. Beautiful...nice clean, large room with a comfortable bed. I love horses, so to come into a room with this large painting of the beloved Seabiscuit and the color of his silks adorned the bedding, I must say it was beautiful.

The manager and desk clerks are so kind and helpful. They are great at giving out information on places to dine and things in the area to visit.

If you get the chance, I know you would enjoy your stay as much as I did.

Thank you,
Sandy

“BELIEVE THE NAYSAYERS: filthy, filthy, no service”

Clarion Collection Baechtel Creek Inn & Spa

We stayed here recently and this hotel was worse than any Motel 6 we have ever stayed in. First of all, they market this place as a "hotel and spa." I didn't see any spa, I saw a bunch of expensive "spa products" for sale at the front desk and a filthy hottub and pool. The room was unmatched in uncleanliness. I had to go out and buy disinfectant and clean the entire bathroom myself, the tub was BROWN and had a bunch of pubic hairs. The coffee pot and refrigerator were filthy. I have had staph infection before and this place is a waiting disaster for that, yes it was THAT filthy and the room smelled.

Also, the soda machine did not work and the snack machine was totally empty. The front desk didn't even have a couple of aspirin to spare for a guest. The beds were like rocks and the sheets did not look all that clean either. The light fixture in the bathroom was a bare bulb with a bunch of bare wires, which is dangerous.

When I mentioned our dissatisfaction to the ditzy desk girls all they could do was "hmmmm" and "oh sorry." We canceled our reservations for the next week and decided to drive to Garberville to stay.

We were very surprised and dismayed by this review. We take the cleanliness of our hotel and our guest's satisfaction very seriously and have worked very hard to make our property one we can be proud of and that our guests appreciate.

We are part of Choice Hotels and they offer their guests a 100% satisfaction guarantee. As part of that guarantee, our front desk has a log where we call the room within 20 minutes of check in to see if our customer is happy with their room. This guest had no negative comment when contacted by our staff.

The accusation about "staph infection" is completely without proof, both medically and legally and very offensive.

As far as the front desk not providing aspirin - this is because it is illegal for any business to provide medication to a guest or an mployee - they could have reaction to the medication.

We just had our Triple A inspection late January and we retained our 3 Diamond rating -- and were given very positive commendation on the cleanliness of our rooms, the bedding (all new, including linens!)

What is most distressing to us is that the guest never once complained to the front desk at any time during their stay. If they had issue with the room, etc, we would have done everything possible to make sure they were satisfied - changing rooms, etc. When a person makes no effort to communicate with the hotel, then writes a review such as this --- it feels grossly unfair!

Thank you,

Jan

A friend of mine brought me up for a city break and I was surprised at how relaxing Medocino County could be! The inn was charming - very clean and tasteful and the couple who run it were so accomidating. We upgraded to the Sea Biscuit room which was warm and inviting with especially comfortable linens. The highlight for me though was the spa - what a surprise! I travel extensively and try to use whatever opportunity I can to indulge in bit of pampering. I am happy to say that this spa held its own with some of the finer resorts I've visited. The main reason is the therapists and the products - they were equally fantastic. I had an 90 min massage plus a body scrub followed by a facial (dark chocolate mask - YUM!) and pedicure the following morning. I went home with a bunch of products including the most wonderful soap and body scrub. I used it this morning which reminded me that I must write a review - with so many bad travel experience it is refreshing to find such a hidden and unexpected gem (and only 2hrs from the city!)
