“Real Nice and Remodeled.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2013

I stayed here before possibly 10 years back, this is not the same Roadway Inn. Its improved by mounds. The fixtures in the rooms were delicate and the colors are awesome. The staff, imparticularly Krisna Patel the manager was very professional and friendly, warm as was my room.Even with the restroom being small it was still very efficient, clean and remodeled! Also the rates are very reasonable, you cannot beat it. Whenever Im passing through Sacramento this is my mainstay. TSB916

Room Tip: Suite 237 is a two room suite Upstairs with a king bed and queen bed. With televisions in both rooms...

Had a very early morning flight the next morning and just needed a place to get a good nights rest. We had stayed there once before and the rooms had really improved. New everything and great colors.Sure the bathroom is small but it gets the job done. We fly out of Sacto. A lot and that's our motel.

I arrived late for an early flight the next day - looking for simple room close to the airport and costing around $50. This place fit the need. Simple furnishing; simple free breakfast, and helpful staff. I felt safe and the other guests seem like regular folks. Not luxury or upscale, but what do you expect for fifty bucks? I would stay here again.

Our first reaction was being pleased with the environment and accommodations. There didn't seem to be any riffraff...but as we stayed we noticed what appeared as drug deals, under aged drinking, prostitution and the 20 pound dog limit was not enforced...and these folks just let their unleashed dog defecate without picking it up. We approached the owners about the activity that we saw and they didn't seem to care. We liked the room and the service was very good in regard to our personal needs. The bathroom was very small. The room was very affordable.

Room Tip: Lock your car. Watch where you walk on the grounds (dog poop)... don't bother talking to the own...

I found this place in one of those discount coupon books I had picked up at an Interstate rest area. Reception honored the coupon in the book but added a few dollars because the only room available had a larger bed than the coupon has specified. Fine. I had to settle for a smoking room, but I checked the room first, and it didn't smell bad. NO ROOM SAFE. Decent enough breakfast.
I was moving and had a small truck, but I found plenty of room to park right in front of my room. Good thing, too, because there is a lot of foot traffic in the area--quite a few people just hanging around. Not far from the motel is a bridge which will take you to the historic and entertaining old downtown of Sacramento, right along the river. Best of all, though, for me was a bowling alley right across the street. I had an absolutely delicious dinner with wonderful, cold draft beer at the restaurant/bar. The mixed crowd at the bowling alley were having a wonderful time, this put me in a good mood. Everyone was very friendly.

The Rodeway Inn in West Sacramento has been a staple of our trailhead stops. We have family in Sacramento, Roseville and at CU Davis, so it's a convenient place to tie up the horses under the hood of our vehicle. There have been improvements each time. New bathroom appointments, improved WiFi service, a coat or two of paint, new bedding, upgraded bathroom linens, etc. Every room has a fridge and a microwave and a coffee pot. Not a vacation spot for the fastidious, it is, however, a secure place, and the owner takes the job of motel management seriously. They are friendly and responsive. Since we spend our time mostly on the road-way or with the family, we'll be back to this place.

Room Tip: Rooms nearer the office are also nearer the ice machine. There is no swimming pool, nor is there a...

We reserved two rooms at this hotel during our a mutli-family road trip from Seattle, WA to Anaheim, CA. We reserved this room, sight unseen, through Getaroom.com. We were told that this was a great hotel, in a very nice area, very family oriented, comparable to a Holiday Inn Express. DO NOT reserve a room sight unseen unless you are ok sleeping in a dump in the ghetto. For those of you who gave this a "very nice" 4-5 star rating - have you ever stayed in a hotel? Seriously? Rusty S., you clearly had many issues here, including being overcharged, yet you gave them five stars?! Ooookkkkayyy.

First off, the front desk employee couldn't answer any questions about our 3rd party reservation, he charged us TWICE, took an extraordinary amount of time checking us in, and then just threw us the key. We later discovered that we were charged $30 more per night than other customers...hmmm.

As for the rooms - the bed sheets were FILTHY! One bed had a large reddish-brown stain on the comforter; the other bed had yellow stains on the bed sheets. We asked for new sheets but were told that housekeeping wasn't available for the day, so he just sent us to a new room.

The new room had broken window screens with holes in them. The windows were open since it had been an 80 degree day. Needless to say, our room was full of bugs and mosquitoes. The window panes had dead bugs and cigarette ashes left in them (non-smoking room).

As another reviewer noted, the ceilings have mold on them. If you can't see the spots, it's because the management found a cheap remedy - paint. Covered or not, it still poses a serious health risk and should be inspected and condemned by the health department. Don't let the reviews about "remodel" or "renovation" fool you. They simply covered their problems rather than fixing them.

The vent in our bathroom had a hand towel stuffed behind the vent screen, up into the ceiling. We weren't sure why, so my husband removed it. Later that night, we awoke to a soaked bathroom floor and drips falling onto our heads from that broken vent. Another cheap remedy.

After a horrible night, we just wanted to get showered and out of there. There was absolutely NO hot water. We took cold showers (as did our friends in the next room), checked out, and vowed never to stay at a Rodeway Inn again. Oh, and don't bother with their "continental breakfast". Just know that you're getting days old stale pastries, mud for coffee, and watered down juice.

Unfortunately, the Manager wasn't available on the day we checked out, so we were told to call him from Anaheim the following day to discuss our visit and to inquire about getting a reduction in our bill or refund. When we called the following day, he REFUSED to speak to us. We contacted getaroom.com and they're stating that the Manager doesn't agree with our assessment of his property, and therefore refused any reimbursement. Mind you, we had family friends staying in the adjacent room who had an equally displeasing experience here. Needless to say, we are continuing to dispute the charges as we were very clearly overcharged, lied to, and given crappy accommodations to put it nicely.

I've stayed at many hotel rooms during vacations over the years, and I have never had any experience even remotely close to this. I've never disputed charges, asked for discounts, reimbursements, etc. This is a first, and definitely a last for Rodeway Inn Sacramento.
