“Staff Wouldn't Get Up when there was a very loud fight”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 12, 2010

I have been staying at this motel for 3 weeks, everything was fine but tonight the people next door to me started fighting and throwing each other around. I called the front desk, the lady was asleep and it wasn't worth her trouble to get out of bed. It literally sounded like the people were destroying the room, so I felt I was doing her a favor by calling her. They didn't stop, and it sounded so violent that I thought the guy was killing the girl! So I felt like, it's the owners job to call the police, but they wouldn't get up. So I didn't know what to do. They came and the people lied and told the cops it was the tv. Then they started fighting again. So I called the cops again, and the cops act like I am the crazy person for calling them. Another bad thing about this place is that the internet doesn't work that well. They only have one router for the entire motel. And of course no signal booster or anything. It's really hard to get any work done. The phones in the rooms don't work either. Also there are no local channels on the tv because it is Satellite. The remote also didn't work so I went out and bought my own. The people who run the place are old and they are nice, but when people are acting all crazy in the motel then you need to get out of bed and throw them out. You shouldn't leave it to your clients to call the police. The place is a lot cleaner than the other places in West Sac, it has a laundry mat on site, but don't make the mistake of shutting the door when you run the dryer because it isn't properly vented and the condensation then drips from the ceiling
I am scared to death. I got no compassion from the police or the people fighting downstairs or the people who run the place for the terrible ordeal. The people were nice at first. But if you stay in one of the apartments in the back the customer service dwindles down down down.

This was clean and homey, good for the price- just what we needed! We were a little scared driving by all the dives on West Capital Ave, but this was the nicest one in the area, by far!

Let's face it, the west sac strip (w capitol ave) isn't exactly the french riviera. Since the city gov. inexplicably tried to 'revitalize' the area by forcing every business to scrap their historical 1950's era neon signage (are they insane?), there's even less reason to go there unless you're homeless and looking to live in a motel, or visiting and looking to stay as cheap as possible.

My fiancee and I were in town for a night and dutifully went motel to motel looking for any vestiges of the glory days when johnny cash and sinatra stayed here. Apart from some fun shag rugs and the odd splash of retro wallpaper, there was nothing to make us say "yes!" and plenty to make say "you're charging how much for this dump?"

The southport inn was a real exception. Surrounded by dives that looked like hangouts for meth heads and a couple of supremely shady proprietors who tried to gouge prices from behind bulletproof glass, the southport was spotless (recently renovated in fact), had a comfortable office offering free coffee, the walls covered with cute inspirational plaques. Behind the counter were wonderful couple (Mr. & Mrs. Gomez) who were friendly and courteous.
Their rooms were spotless, attractive, smelled wonderful, and had a charming touch of victorian style (window trimmings, etc.). Plus, satellite TV, ice cold AC, a clean microwave and a nice fridge. All for the same price as every other place we checked out.
The only thing I could possibly criticise was the slow wifi. But hey, its free, and none of the other motels seem to have ANY wifi at all.

The only place I would stay or recommend in this town. Don't even waste your time with the others. Seriously.
