I stayed at Universal Sheraton during May 5-12, 2007. Great stay.
Rather than take in some of the more well known attractions, I skipped Universal Studios, Disneyland, etc in attempt to get to experience something different.
Highlights that you might enjoy:
Attended a world preimiere of Shrek 3 in Westwood. Check the Internet or local papers for times & places. Get there early to secure and good location. Look like you belong and fit in to mix in with the authorized media.
Westwood Memorial Cemetary. Grave sites of Marilyn Monroe, Dean Martin, Jack Lemmon, Roy Orbison, Walter Matthau and so many more in such a small, almost hidden location. Locate it and go, if at all interested. Much better to navigate (you can park and walk ease) than the bigger cemetaries.
Tonight Show with Jay Leno. Very easy to get free tickets. Just show up in the morning at NBC Studios in Burbank & go back at designated time. Also other tapings are available. While in Burbank go to Big Bobs Burgers. I saw Drew Carey in there at lunch twice in one week.
Go ahead, take the movie stars home tour. It was fun! Catch it in front of the Grahams Chinese Theater. We saw two stars (Steve Martin & Dr. Phil) on our tour. By the way, if you haven't been to Hollywood in a while, it appears much cleaner and safer than it use to be. The area around the Kodak Theater is new.
CHeck out the Arc Light theater while you are nearby. Toby McGuire actually introduced a showing of Spiderman 3 during it's first run there.
