“The London West Hollywood~”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 23, 2013

I have stayed at both London hotels~New York & L.A. The latter numerous times. The L.A London used to be the old worldly BelAge ~sort of a lower order Four Seasons.
It has been redesigned as the London Hotel-an LXR hotel/resort. I am not really sure why it's called a resort~I mean,it's got a pool on the roof. It's a very pretty rooftop~esp. at night with twinkly lights, cabanas etc.,but does that make it a resort ? That means my Aunt's house is a resort...
The lobby is lovely in golds, cream & black with some fun pieces.Valet & front desk make it friendly & easy to get into your room. The rooms are all large and have comfortable beds & bedding. They also have pretty loungy sofas that could double as kids beds or for crashers~I had neither ! Balconies with various city views and sounds~I've enjoyed a basketball court, side streets, apartments, balconies, people's yards and parking ares.It has never been too loud except for the occasional rooftop jazz band or DJ.That's always fun : / The bathrooms are huge, white and bright ~oh but wait~the lighting is all adjustable which i LOVE in a hotel room. They also have the best bath products~"Clear by Jean-Jacques" is one I use at home -it's sold at the Golden Door online .It's very clean~sometimes the rooms can smell a bit...carpet cleaner-ish or old smoke and that made me change rooms.
The room service gets to you straight away-it's more a matter of do you actually want to eat it ?The food at the London is NOT great-barely hitting average. The hotel's old restaurant "Diaghilev" was so beautiful,& elegant with amazing food & drink.I must give a special nod to it's Manager/Maitre d' Dimitrov Dimitri (who is now at Tower Bar).He made the evening a class act.Attentive, refined with attention to the details of your dining experience the likes of which you may see on film but never know again. Now the restaurant is Gordon Ramsey. It's so bland and uninventive-it has no stamp or style except we know his name.It needs some items with heat or hey how about texture ! Crunch ,crispy or depth would be a welcome note to the party. They do serve a breakfast buffet which has nothing special on it-it's pretty much a business person's buffet .Forgettable.
The London is in a perfect location for music,(Roxy,The Whiskey) entertainment industry meet-ups(in between all major and minor studios) shopping(Melrose,3rd street)starf**keres( Hollywood Walk of Fame,Beverly Hills and Rainbow friendly(Santa Monica Blvd)great Gay clubs and eye candy.
Here is what I find strange about the London~it's in a great location, has nice digs, swanky rooftop pool ,decent rooms but has NO SCENE whatsoever ! Who is in charge of PR at this place ? It's being sold as an something to someone who is not staying there.Who IS staying there are visiting business folks. The occasional family. It's not cool. There is no vibe. They need to cater to the Gay crowd (in my humble native LA'er opinion)I mean ~it's 1 second to SM Blvd !
It's got a salon, rooftop pool with cabanas ~it could be a goldmine .They need to hire a younger ,cooler person to sell this place up.

Room Tip: As always ask for a quiet room.

We stayed for a couple of nights during a trip in California and don't think we could of chosen better. The room was so luxurious and the view was lovely. The roof terrace was closed when we were there but it didn't really matter. The breakfast was yummy but it seemed strange that the buffet was included with the room but there was also items you could purchase? We also had room service for dinner one night, the menu was not spectacular but the food was a very high standard -and if you like Gordon Ramsey (I'm not convinced) even better.

Stay at this hotel at least once per month for work. Have always experienced a great stay, as all the employees are so attentive to detail. The concierge are the best i've experienced. The rooms are huge with extra large bathrooms, the breakfast buffet is top notch, and the all around service is great. You can't beat the location if you travel throughout the city. I would highly suggest staying here.

Nice rooms with good views. The bathrooms are huge which is a big plus. The valet parking is only $ 33.00 a day which is low in Los Angeles. Breakfast in included and the pool bar is fun. The neighborhood is squiffy, but safe. You can cab it anywhere. Overall relaxing for a different LA experience

Room Tip: LA View rooms have a panoramic view. Sunset strip rooms have less to see but the hills are closer s...

We stayed here during one of the busiest seasons in the LA area, but you'd never know. The staff was on top of absolutely everything. We felt like VIPs our entire stay. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are HUGE. We loved the double shower and soaking tub. Our room had a lovely view of Los Angeles that seems to go on forever. The location was easy to get to. The concierge team was very knowledgeable and gave us great advice on everything from dinners to where to watch the sunset. We were very impressed with the breakfast offered each morning. We can't say enough good things about this hotel and can't wait to go back!

Room Tip: High rooms feature fabulous views from the balconies.

We stayed at the London for four nights just prior to Christmas. We thoroughly enjoyed the hotel, the rooms were great, the staff helpful, and the continental breakfast was a real bonus! We arrived in the morning after an overnight international flight, and were delighted that an early check-in was no problem at all. It is a great location from which to explore LA, and make sure you experience the nearby Grove Shopping Centre, which is one of the most pleasant shopping environments I have seen! We would not hesitate to stay at the London again, and would thoroughly recommend it to others!

Very well located hotel in West Hollywood with large rooms and bathrooms. Impecible taste in design - takes a bit to look behind the posh and stylish decor to realise this was an old hotel. A lot of money has been spent here to provide a truly boutique feeling product. This is a large hotel, but the staff still make you feel like you are the only guests there. Concierge services organising hotels and tours etc best we have experienced.

Criticisms - a Gordon Ramsay restaurant, the food was good - quite good in fact, however the service was not what was expected from both the chef's well publicised standards, and the hotel status and market. Each morning for breakfast we were forced to wait (up to 20 minutes) for a table, even though there were many tables vacant. Not sure why, especially given most were just having continental breakfast. For Christmas dinner also, the staff were rigid in their refusal to allow one of our dining guests to only order and be served one course (instead of the full set menu of 3 courses). I would go as far to say that the staff member was rude in their refusal and redirection.
