“Only place to stay in LA !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 19, 2013 via mobile

This is one of my world favorite hotels .
Exceptional staff at the front reception , restaurants , & lovely women & men in housekeeping ! The rooms are a great size , often I'm upgraded when available .
Tower Restaurant is probably one of the best in LA & not everyone needs to know that ! The Sunset Tower is a very classy
joint & it's not star struck ! Low key , peaceful & relaxing , that's what it's all about . I always feel home !

I stayed here in June of 2012, and have felt guilty for not reviewing my stay before now. What a wonderful place this is. My room was a corner suite on the 12th floor which was fabulous with a spacious terrace and wonderful views, leaving no doubts about which city I was in! Tinseltown charm in spades. The quality of the room was first rate, as was the courteous staff. Dinner at the Tower Bar was an event in itself with old-school steak and a Cabernet to die for, and oh yes, the kookiest/coolest waiter ever. One more thing: I am a smoker, and was absolutely bowled over by the fact that you can light up at the pool and the adjacent tables, may it never change!
Would I stay here again? You bet.

The Sunset Tower is known as the hotel of the stars and we were treated like stars and vip's every step of the way. The service, personal attention and ambience were amazing. I had expected it to be snooty to just "regular" people, but that was not the case at all. We were made to feel at home and very important. The staff all remembered who we were from day one and always welcomed us. Tim, the GM, was amazing and so very helpful. The Valet's were outstanding, fun and efficient. Angel, our daily server at the beautiful Terrace breakfast was such a delight that we looked forward to greeting him each day. We stayed 10 days and felt like we were home. We will always return to this beautiful hotel. Oh, and you do see stars there frequently.

Room Tip: Go for the Junior or One Bedroom Suites with the view of downtown LA

I stayed here last year. It is very over rated and the decor is shockingly awful and not right for a hotel with this fabulous history. The view from the hotel is wonderful though and a great position. Normally I stay at the Chateau or the Rooservelt which are the very best, cool, hotels in LA. Someone suggested the Sunset and it was the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel, culminating with me having a run in with the owner who was staggeringly rude to me and the most superficial, arrogant individual I have ever had the misfortune to meet! The room was small, poky and ugly. The food was terrible. The reception staff are very sweet. Sadly, you can't buy good taste or manners!

we were recommended this hotel by Amex and it was everything we could have hoped for. An absolute Hollywood icon in a very cool part of town. The bar/terrace/pool deck is amazing and sooo LA. The week after we stayed they were hosting the Golden Globe Awards After Party which just goes to show how 'cool' the Hotel is currently. We had three kids, 10, 15 and 17 and all of them thought it was fantastic. Staff are amazing, restaurant 'fabulous LA', couldnt fault it in any way!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing downtown, not facing Sunset Boulevard.

I had the good fortune of staying at The Sunset Tower while on a short business trip to LA. Sunset Tower is not only an archtiectural gem but a boutique hotel run by people who truly understand the importance of service and amenities. The details of the guest room are perfect, including the most wonderful bathrobes. The continental breakfast buffet of fresh fruit, homemade Greek yogurt, smoked salmon, wonderful breads, etc is served pool side overlooking the city of LA. The Sunset Strip doesn't get any better than this hotel. I look forward to my return.

We have stayed at many of the cooler hotels in L A and were lucky enough to have a good friend recommend The Sunset Tower Hotel - we were blown away with our stay - this is certainly the best hotel in LA. The ambience, service, styling and decor are second to none and the restaurants and bars of the highest calibre - food, service and discretion fantastic. We also had a fabulous experience at the hotel spa. We commend the staff in every regard and are looking forward to returning.

Room Tip: King deluxe was our room of choice, the back of the hotel has fabulous city views.
