Ugh! Stayed for just one night and that was enough. AAA rates this a 3 star and it shouldn't even have one. Tile in the bathroom was moldy, furnishings were extremely inexpensive, hideous and falling apart. Carpet was filthy in places. Had a loft room with a king upstairs and a queen sofa downstairs with tvs in both areas. The acoustics were horrible and any noise from the first floor echoed all over. When open, the floor of one of the elevator's was not flush with the hall floor and I tripped and almost landed head first into the mirrored wall. Staff was pleasant, but now I know why they didn't ask if I enjoyed my stay!!!

My partner & I (we are a hetrosexual couple, aged late 40s & 50s and knew nothing about West Hollywood) have just spent 4 nights here. If I'd read these reviews first then I would have been worried, thankfully I didn't.

The hotel reception was clean & welcoming, with leaflets/info on local attractions etc. Reception staff were polite & quick. Our air conditioned room had 2double beds, tv, fridge, well stocked filter coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very clean with hairdryer, 3 fluffy white bath towels, 2 handtowels 2 flannels, well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, mouthwash, body lotion, soap. The consierge, Jose was very helpful & arranged bus tours for us with LA VIP tours - an excellent, reasonably priced tour company - and a real hoot if you get Tom as the driver! Jose recommended a local italian restaurant where the food was extremely good (though their service needs a little work).

All towels/flannels were changed daily, filter coffee was stocked daily, shampoo, conditioner etc replaced DAILY. It does help (in ANY hotel) to (inexpensively - $1 perday) tip cleaning staff - after all, it can't be too nice cleaning rooms & toilets that other people have used. Only downside was trying to get a cab to the airport - Ali (the day consierge) a very pleasant man, but clearly only phones one cab driver, so after half hour wait we got our own cab. Excellently located hotel - though would agree that maybe not for families.

A $600 digital camera was stolen from my luggage in my room during my stay while I was out attending business meetings for the day. The hotel management did not handle with care or efficiency. There was little to no support provided when I notified management of the missing article from my luggage. The management team does not treat it's costomers with respect or courtesy. If you value your belongings, you may want to stay somewhere else. Still waiting notice for replacement of stolen belongings on this property. On a second note, no words can express how bad this hotel is. Stay away and be warned that its dirty, old and not updated for west hollywood.

Well, I have heard many mixed reviews of this hotel, so heres my opinion.
This hotel is quite a large one on Santa Monica, with lots of things nearby as mentioned by other reviewers. Yes it is in the gay neighbourhood, but I never found anything to be overtly "gay". In fact the majority of fellow travellers I saw in the builiding were families and heterosexual couples.

The lobby itself was small but stylish, decorated to have a simple hollywood glamour feel. The staff at the desk were helpful as was the concierge.

When checking, I requested a quiet/ nice room, and I was given a room at the end of the hall on the third floor. It was a corner unit, very spacious, with windows on 2 sides and a private balcony.

The bathroom had an awesome Showerhead and was fully stocked with plenty of nice towels and sundries.

One thing to be aware of: Some of the balconies are shared with other rooms with No divider in the middle, something I wouldnt recommend if you want complete privacy. The room itself had some problems, there was a hole in the bathroom door that although unattractive didnt pose any problems. There was an inroom safe that is a great bonus, but you do have to pay a dollar a day for whether you use it or not. I will say that the rooms themselves were not particularly sound proof, and although I heard a bit of walking around above me, it was never enough to awaken me.

The hotel location is great, close to the Strip, restaurants, Beverly Hills, and shopping.
I got a good rate off the internet 122.00 per night, and would stay here again.
From some of the reviews I read on here, I half expected this to be a crazy hotel with lots of people, drag queens and god knows what else wandering through it . This was not the case.
Good value hotel. Worth the money I spent.

Being a budget traveler, I booked a room at this hotel despite the many warnings posted on this site. I obviously wasn't expecting much, and that is exactly what I got. The front desk employee was very curteous on the two occasions we spoke (check-in and check-out). The location was excellent, and is what keeps this hotel from being $49.99/night. I was about two blocks (downhill) from the sunset strip. The bathrooms were also great, they seemed to have gone through a more recent remodel than the rest of the room. They were clean, aesthetically pleasing, and spacious.

This is where I run out of positives. The room smelled like stale smoke, the hall smelled like some kind of chemical that my olfactory senses had never encountered, and the movie selection was horrible. When I clicked the "now in theatres" option, there was only one movie available for service. There were cigarette burns and stains in the bedspread and on the carpet. I used a towel to remove the bedspread because I didn't want to touch it. There was some kind of an early 80's Wal-Mart style dresser and headboard that had the cheap plastic coating bubbling up from the ply-wood that it was once attached to. There was nothing on the walls except for the cheap lighting (incandescent bulbs with no shades).

I'm not a picky traveler, I never do anything in my room other than sleep. But, I tend to be a germaphobe and I was never really comfortable touching anything in that room. I would spend the extra $75 to $150 next time to stay in a much nicer place on the Sunset Strip.
