“Fantastic Stay”

Ramada Plaza Hotel-West Hollywood

We stayed at this hotel for the first half of our Honeymoon. I too was a bit worried after reading some of these reviews. But everything was fine. Like who cares what the hallways look like? I think some people expect all hotels to be the Hyatt!! The hotel was easy to find. Check in and check out was quick, staff polite and helpful. We had a new king bed (so comfy), awesome big screen TV and a fridge in our room. The free internet was good to. There were laundry facilities also, which come in handy. This hotel has a great location. Took no time at all to drive anywhere. Also a $7 cab ride to Sunset Strip. The parking is expensive at $27 a night. But considering they can sell this parking to surrounding businesses, I’m sure guests without a car are happy the parking price isn’t built into their room price. And the hotel is pretty cheap anyway. And you don’t have to Valet. I don’t know where the guy below got that from. You just drive past the valet and up the ramp. Also, the restaurant was still closed, but this was good, it made us venture out past the hotel. We found a lovely restaurant up the road called Tango Grill. There are also heaps of other food places around, like Subway, Koo Koo Roo and Starbucks, including a 24 hour Mediterranean Restaurant on the corner of La Cienega. The pool was lovely and nice at the end of a day of slight seeing. I just wish it was open past 9pm. Also the Concierge, Jose, was really helpful booking things for us and advising the best value for money. I’d definitely stay here again, and would recommend it to others.

This hotel has it all: worn out, dirty rooms, surly staff, outrageous parking charges, etc.

They are "renovating", so check back when they are done. Until then, don't bother.

I must have stayed at a different Ramada Hotel than the other reviewers stayed at. The hotel is well located on Santa Monica Blvd; and I found it to be close to many, many restaurants and much nightlife. The price was reasonable for the location. But the service was atrocious. The employees were annoyed that we wanted to check in; check out was almost as bad. The design and finishes of the hotel were worn out and many years out of date. I forget what the valet parking charge was, but it was outrageous. I did not want to valet; but we were not given a choice. When we checked out, we were told that there was no valet service and they could not locate our car. We rode through the parking garage with a security officer and eventually located the car. But where were our keys? After another half hour of searching, suddenly the keys were found. Despite the great location and fairly reasonable price, I would skip this place.

“Very Happy!”

This hotel really surprised me. After reading some of the reviews on here I wasnt expecting much but was very pleasantly surprised. Our room had fantastic beds, great aircon, excellent doonas, fast wireless internet and a huge mounted lcd tv. I could not fault the room here, it was just great. Staff were very helpful and friendly. The only negative was the cost of parking - at $27 a day its a bit expensive. Its in a good location for nightlife and clubs, a simple walk or quick 5min cab ride to Sunset Blvd. Would definately recommend staying here, I didnt experience any of the negatives from other reviews, I would definately stay again and think its fab!!

This hotel was rather expensive for what we got and it was not as well placed as the hotel website boasted.

The website states that the hotel is about one mile from everything that you want to see in LA. This wasn't the case - you really need a car to get to see everything, barely anything was within walking distance. So this was very disappointing.

The hotel is in the middle of a refurbishment, so there was no bar, restaurant or breakfast facility, which wouldn't have mattered ordinarily, except that the hotel is on a main road which doesn't offer any good eats - so Pizza Hut saved our life on our first evening!

Our room had been part of the refurb, which was well decorated, but they forgot to do the bathroom.....and this really needed it! It was old, tired and the white bath had gone yellow with age.
It was however clean.

We tend to stay in mid range hotels and most tend to offer free internet access these days, the Ramada charges 50cents a minute for internet access, which is really pricey when you spend most of the time connecting to different sites!

All in all the hotel was clean and did the job but was well over priced for it's location and amenities.
