All the good things you've read are true. I'd just like to add a few observations:

- the bed in the entry level suites is a queen and was a bit too narrow for the two of us. We made do with the sofa bed. You may want to consider upgrading to a king suite.

- we like to sleep without A/C and keep the window open. Hammond and Cynthia Streets are by no means busy or noisy, but occasionally you'll hear a noisy car or loud conversation during the wee hours. The culprits mostly seem to be hotel residents and not the neighbors. Next time we would request a room to the back, away from the street.

- in room high speed Internet is free now. The Internet terminal in the lobby is great to print out boarding passes.

- a final reality check: as you're paying $28 for parking (a normal price for West LA hotels), please don't stiff the valet out of a few bucks to have them get your car. The money won't kill you and the valet/bell staff are good hard working guys, very quick and deserve to make a decent living too....

Have visited Los Angeles a lot of times the last 20 years.
Stayed at Le Montrose with my family, wife and two kids, a short week in June.
Most say this is one of the absolutely best places to stay in West Hollywood, rooms/suites are big, staff is very nice and helpful, if you call for something, you got help faster than you could expect. Hotel i very clean, the rooms, aswell as looby and rooftop poolarea. I would gladly recommend this hotel to all kind of travelers.

We just stayed at the Le Montrose for 6 nights and its was a brilliant hotel.. very close to sunset boulevard.. we walked up there most nights and had dinner.. the rooftop terrace is amazing... i cant say enough good things about the Le Montrose... Definately worthy of a visit...

Beautiful rooms, stylish and with lots of amenities. I had the rooftop garden to myself one night and it was great, a hot tub, a pool, and lots of lounge chairs. Saw the tennis courts, didn't use them.

The common areas were really elegant, and based on the clientele and their conversations I would say this is where budding hip hop stars hang...staff was amazing...I called down for my car and it got there before I did, check out was a breeze, my room was pretty quiet and like I said, really kitted out. I could vaguely hear the couple next door, but only vaguely.

My only complaints are two things one big one small but important: the Bed just wasn't very comfortable, and I think a comfy bed is THE most important thing in a hotel. The other one was that sometimes there were small bits of trash (gum wrappers) in the common areas...but about a half hour later when I came back they had been cleared up so that was I guess due to a sloppy guest.

Again, on the whole, a great deal especially for the $199 my company paid.
