This hotel was just reopened as Andaz in January 2009. It was formerly the Hyatt known as the Riot Hyatt. It is on Sunset Blvd, across the street from other popular hotels such as The Standard, Mondrian. The service the moment we walked in the lobby was great. We loved how there is no "front desk". The staff greets you and makes you feel welcome sitting you down, offering you complimentary wine and checking you in from mini laptops that the carry around. They explain all the hotels amenities. We were greeted by Dean, who was fantastic! He made our stay so much for enjoyable. The hotel offers complimentary wine in the lobby at night, in the morning there is coffee and croissants and two laptops that are available for all guests to use. Andaz offers complimentary wifi in all of the rooms and the snacks and all non-alcoholic beverages in the mini fridges in the rooms are also complimentary. That beats paying 16.00 for some trail mix and 9.00 for a bottle of fiji water at other hotels. The rooftop pool and lounge area has a great view. If I were to stay in Hollywood again, I would definitely book here. The rooms were super clean and spacious. I am a super clean freak and sometimes get disgusted thinking about having to stay in hotels but this hotel was clean and friendly in my opinion.

We booked the room thru priceline..it costs $100. I did not get any thing special here. We got a very ordinary room..for the strip view we were asked to pay $75extra.. so we decided to stay in the room whatever they have offered us for priceline guests. I heared that they have recently renovated... but the decor of the room was very very simple..AC and LCD tv were working properly..I did not like the bathroom, it had no wall hanger to keep your clothes inside the bathroom. There was no buthtub.but that is not a big problem. The bathroom was not fully ready for the new guests.. there was a half role toilet paper seems left over of previous guests.
Restaurant were good, staffs are good at service.. we only had breakfast..it was plenty..
Front desk staffs are also helpful.. Parking is very very expensive..self and valet both. And the way of valet parking is not good..
Too much informalities and no dress code for the stuffs make lill confusion for the guests. Terrace pool was really nice.. Pool decor and outside view is excellent.

The thing which i liked more is their way of reception. If you are coming from a long way and you are tired.. you donot have to stand in the line with all your luggage. You will be seated on couch and served with wine or other drink, and your host will do the all formalities.

Stayed here with colleagues for business. The best thing about the hotel is the beds are very comfortable. Checked in with an employee who had a laptop, wrinkled clothing and no name tag. Their is no front desk, so very informal. They are trying to be "hip", which would have been fine, but I could not tell the unshaven, wrinkled clothing staff from the homeless guys on Sunset Blvd. It's a little scary when they approach you to valet your car, and you have no way of knowing if they work there, or if they're a street person. The staff do not wear uniforms, rather it seems that anything they throw on that is gray, black or brown is acceptable. The lobby furniture was worn, and tables had glass ring marks. The lobby rug was very faded. The restaurant staff was friendly, but the seating was so uncomfortable, we just had a drink, then left. Although the staff was friendly, because they looked like they slept in their clothing, and didn't bother to shave or clean up, it made me feel like the hotel was not clean...rather seedy. There were old record albums in the guest room for decor...another attempt to be "hip", I guess. In hindsight, I wish we had spent the extra money and stayed at the Four Seasons where we usually stay. Wanted to try something different, and this was about as different as it gets.

If you can get room for less than $200 a night, Andaz a good place to stay on Sunset Blvd. Roof top pool was amazing. Great views. Rooms were super modern and clean. Free Wi-Fi. Free wine in evening. Management was first class. Lobby was super awesome - all marble and glass. Paying $25 to park per day was only hassle.

We stayed at the Andaz for one night on a stopover in LA, we were jetlagged and cranky, but the Andaz picked up our moods! The hotel is trendy, funky, modern and fresh and the staff are tremendously helpful. The check-in system is great, no waiting at desks here, and to top it all off the big red tourist bus stop is right outside the door. We would highly recommend this hotel to anyone!
