Droped of my car. The valet staff was great. Checked in the hotel, went to my room. Walked in and walked right out. No way was I staying there. I would rather stay at a homeless shelter. Went down to the desk, they canceled my reservation and I stayed at the Marriott in Beverly Hills. The desk staff knows the place is a dump.

“A Dump!”

My collegues and I travelled from NY to LA on the way to Asia for business meetings July 2007. We made a "pit stop" to relax in LA before the long week ahead, boy did we make a mistake by selecting the Hyatt West Hollywood! The $259.00/night they were offering as the "corporate rate" was a waste of my company's money.

Unfortunately all other hotels in the area were booked and our corporate travel team (they recommended this dump) was not able to relocate us.

On our way to the HWH we passed it as it was covered with scaffold we mistook it as a condemmed building undergoing construction. Upon rechecking the map we realized we were indeed in the right place. Oh no!!!

HWH is undergoing major renovations and the hotel/rooms are disgusting. My collegues found long strands of hair in between the bed sheets and in the bathtub. Ewwww!!!

I had no balcony access just a glass door nailed shut with a warning sign (the balcony had no railings). See photo

Bathroom sinks cracked, dirty carpets, horrible internet connection. I did not even unpack or leave my luggage on the floor in fear or "unexpected visitors".

The fabric on the couch in the lobby was falling apart and the table was in ruins... see additional photos enclosed.

The staff noticed upon check out we were not happy with the place so they only charged us for one night.

Please do not waste anyone's (your personal or company's) money on this place until it is FULLY renovated.

My girlfriend and I (both mid-20s) took a trip up to LA for one night and stayed at the Hyatt West Hollywood. The pros: the location is relatively central to many popular nightclubs, restaurants, shops, Hollywood Blvd., etc. But as this is LA, you really do need to drive everywhere, i.e. the Beverly Center (shopping) was only a 5-10 minute drive, but that's about 30 minutes by foot.

The hotel itself is under complete renovation. The lobby is finished but the exterior is terrible with much scaffolding and construction. The rooms were very shabby, and did not remind me of any other Hyatt I had every stayed at. The wallpaper and bedspreads were checkered, the carpet was dirty and the parts of the walls that were not wallpapered, had crumbling plaster that constantly fell on the carpet.

I would not stay at this hotel again. There is a Best Western across the street, and The Standard is right down the block. For comparable prices, I would stay elsewhere.

Yes, they are renovating but W A I T until it is finished. Call and ask if they have completed the entire reno before you book a room here. I sit in my room now surrounded by the dirtiest carpet, furniture, ceilings, walls and bathroom I have seen in many years on the road. The lobby is finished but you don't sleep in the lobby, do you? When I checked in and got to my room I returned to the desk to ask if they had any rooms that weren't as filthy as the room I was assigned. With as much attitude as possible I was told the room WAS clean and perhaps a return by housekeeping would help. My response was; Unless they can replace everything down to the wall sockets, don't bother. This place sucks the big one! Htyatt shot their own foot by not closing this thing down and completing the reno without guests. Trying to do a half-ass job with paying guests is a really slimy tactic in my opinion. I stayed at a Hyatt Place a few weeks ago and was impressed with the product. My first 8 hours here has changed my opinion of Hyatt's corporate wisdom. Staff seems "OK" but needs to tone down the "tude."

I can overlook the construction but the rooms are pretty old. Curtains/carpets stained. Room was too hot and could not be adjusted. No answer at front desk when we tried to report the room temp problem. Can't open window due to construction.
Per Hyatt's website the construction is done between 9-5 M-F. It actually started at 7am right over our room. When I mentioned this to the front desk she seemed supprised that they started at 7am "they are supposed to start at 9am"- come on!!! She did comp our parking though.
While it is in the heart of everything - we will not stay there again.
