We stayed at this hotel from August 27th to September 3rd, and would gladly recommend this hotel to just about anyone. Yes the hotel was undergoing some minor renovations, big deal. They do the work during the day when most people have already left to do whatever it is they are in West Hollywood to do, so the noise was a non-factor, and the fact that there was some wood trim still to be installed in the hallways is of little importance, unless of course the appearance of the hallways is a big factor in your decision of which hotel to pick. The room was very clean, and the staff were very attentive. When we arrived we had no towels, but one quick call to the front desk, and literally within two minutes the towels arrived. Great service! The continental breakfast is pretty standard, but hey, you're at a Best Western, not the Four Seasons, so again, it was more that sufficient. Pricewise it was very reasonable - for West Hollywood prices I mean. I wouldn't pay that kind of money most other places, but for its location, it was a good deal. The pool is very nice, and the staff were continually making an effort to keep it clean, and ensure that there were lounge chairs available to those actually wanting to use them, and would remove towels from chairs that appear to have been "held" but unused for quite some time. The location is a perfect homebase for those wanting to tour Hollywood, Santa Monica, Venice Beach, LA, etc... Never had any problems with parking, and the fee of $6 per day is more than reasonable. We felt it was in a safe neighbourhood as well, and we were very comfortable walking Sunset Strip after dark with no worries. Overall a very good experience, and would gladly recommend this hotel to couples, singles, and families.

  • Tips/Secrets: — Request a room on the 1st floor with a door to the pool area (or any floor, but make sure you face the pool area). The "ground level" or "street level" is the third floor.

Made a reservation to stay for three nights at this conveniently located (if you are a partier) hotel right on The Strip. Unfortunately, the hotel is a dump and needs some work. I ended up checking out two days early. The only positive thing I can say about my stay is that the clerk at the front desk didn’t argue with me or charge me for my unused nights.

Location:
The location is great if you don’t mind a bit of traffic, noise and partiers. You’re within easy walking of a number of bars, night clubs, comedy clubs and restaurants.

Parking:
There are several small parking lots underneath the hotel that can fit a fair number of vehicles as long as they are small. Don’t bother if you are driving a Suburban. They also fill up so plan ahead.

Hotel:
The hotel appears to be undergoing some simple renovations. The molding, chair rail and crown have been removed from the hallways. What’s strange is that it looks like it’s been that way for quite some time.

Room:
One thing I noticed right away is that there is a faint smell of mildew in the hallways and much stronger in the room. My guess is that it comes from the ancient window air conditioners.

The room itself was nice but needed some work. The view was HORRIBLE. It looked out to a fifty foot tall brick wall. Truly awful.

This brings me to the worst part of the room. Besides the smell, the air conditioner was so noisy that I had a hard time sleeping. This is not good in August in LA. I decided to open the windows where I discovered that the window screens were missing. I also noticed that everyone else had their noisy air conditioners running as well. The cacophony was horrible.

After a terrible night’s sleep, I decided to check out and head over to the Hollywood Renaissance which is a great hotel.

There are numerous better choices in the area. Avoid this dump.

We were going on a 5 day cruise to Mexico and I wanted to take my husband to Universal Studios the day before we left. I found this hotel to be very nice. It was very well decorated and the exterior pool and patio area, is the main reason that I chose this particular hotel. I always check out the comments online before I book a hotel. That was another "main reason" that I chose this hotel. Very impressive reviews. I am traveling to Los Angeles again in March of 2007, with a bunch of Red Hat Society ladies, and we are going to stay here again. I can't wait. It is also located near the House of Blues, and many other great places in Hollywood. It was a short drive to Universal Studios, and close to a lot of other places that one would want to visit while in Hollywood..Just get a map and follow it..Not that hard. I love this hotel and I am really looking forward to my next visit..Judy

  • Disliked — no comment
  • Tips/Secrets: — just get a map of Hollywood so that you know how to get around.

What a find! We really enjoyed this hotel. As a family travelling to many destinations on one trip this was one of our favourites and reasonably priced. We were delighted with our pool room. It was spacious for four of us with two double beds and had a microwave and fridge and coffee maker.
The free continental breakfast was a bonus as it meant we didn't have to pay for breakfast for a few days.
Staff were very helpful and the laundrette was brilliant as we were able to wash clothes half way through our trip at a very reasonable cost.
The children loved the pool which was in a delightful setting. I would recommend this hotel to friends and family.
Well situated if you are mostly interested in hollywood and universal studios.

This was the best hotel we stayed at during our 13 day trip to Southern California, all of which carefully selected based on Trip Advisor reviews. While it was not 5 *s with the corresponding price, it felt quite luxurious for the price. We stayed for 3 nights.

Front desk was reasonably attentive. All requests were handled professionally, but they didn't go out of the way.

Buffet breakfast was well laid out. We ate at various times of the morning and there was always plenty of selection. The hostess kept things coming as required.

The room was quiet, clean and comfortable. These are my most important qualities of a hotel. The 5 of us (2 adults, 3 girls between 6 and 12) were split b/w the 2 queen beds and the sofabed. The pullout wasn't really intended for an adult, but I got stuck with it for some nights. I almost sank to the floor. 5 people in a room can make quite a mess, the room was always immaculate on our return.

Location is excellent to Hollywood sights, shopping and restaurants (a couple of restaurants incredibly expensive and poor value).

Plenty of parking space, but spaces were tight (we found this to be the norm at all of our hotels.

Definitely recommend this place. It got our trip started on the right foot. Wish they were all like this one.
