“Lovely Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2011

Stayed here for 6 nights and only got home yesterday. We had room 110. It was a good size. Overall the room was very clean and well appointed with a little kitchenette including fridge, microwave, 2 hotplates and a sink. The bathroom was large and very clean. The room had 2 queen beds that were comfortable. There were french doors that led out to the patio area and pool. There were gorgeous flowering sgrubs all aound and was very pretty. The area was groomed every day. We had a small wrought iron table with 2 chairs just by our doors with other larger tables and chairs by the end of the pool. There were also many sun loungers that the staff put swimming towels on every morning. There were more towels available by the door. The complex has coin operated washers and dryers which was very nice. $1.50 per wash, $2.00 per dry and $1.50 per box for laundry powder. A safe was provided in the wardrobe as well as an iron. When you enter the lobby you are actually on the 3rd floor so we descended to floor 1 for our accommodation which eliminated the road noise from busy Sunset Boulevard...fantastic. The American breakfast was adequate although the room can get quite crowded. You are welcome to take your breakfast either to your room or eat beside the pool. There are several restaurants close by (in walking distance). We really enjoyed the Saddle Ranch Chop Shop across the road. Don't be put off by the name Chop Shop. They served everything from salads, to chicken, salmon and steaks. It can get very busy though but the staff were great to us each time we went in. They even gave us a huge candyfloss tower after dinner. We walked down to Hollywood central and it took us 3/4 of an hour. The number 2 bus stops in both directions right outside the hotel which was convenient for getting into town and back if we did not want to walk in the heat of the day. We did hear some heavy footed people above us at times but not enough to dampen our time at all. This is a great hotel and a quiet sanctury in such a busy area of Hollywood.

Stayed here for first two nights of California trip. Wonderful hotel in lovely position in the heart of Sunset Boulevard. Has own garage parking. Lovely pool area and flowers still abundant in late September. we were upgraded as it was my husbands special birthday...what a fantastic room with amazing views to downtown LA and over pool area too. Fridge, microwave, coffee maker. Breakfast provided and this was adequate American style, they did not mind if you took back to own balcony or pool area to eat. No restaurant but staff advised on restaurants and even ordered us a takeaway pizza! would not hesitate to recommend especially for the price in such a busy city.

Pro's: Very good location & good breakfast & friendly staff & very nice pool
Con's: Very thin walls, as I'm writing this review I can listen to the TV in the next room, we couldn't sleep untill 2am last night because of people walking in the room above us and someone constantly yelling (or was it singing?) in the room next to us & small breakfast area, you have to wait before you can sit or you have to take the breakfast to you room

And in the first place we are in a hotel to sleep (and we payed $200 a night), so the first con weighs much more than all the pro's together, sorry.....don't stay here if you're a light sleeper

Room Tip: Maybe ask for a room at the top floor so you don't have rooms above you.....

Great location with huge rooms, good parking facilities, FREE breakfast and an Amazing Pool area!

It's a real shame that on our 2nd night the people in the room above were super noisey and sounded like baby elephants - we could hear their ever move - but other than that we were very happy!!!!!!!!!

Our room was very beautiful and big for the price we paid. Everything was newly remodeled and very clean. My husband and I went for our 6th anniversary and liked if very much. The only SMALL problem that we had was the very thin walls. After drinking all night, the next morning you could hear everyone getting up, their TV's on and the conversations of everyone in the hallway and in their rooms and the water rushing down the pipes. Our TV wasn't working; I think it was just dead batteries, so we couldn't turn that on to drown out the noise. But as long as you know that it is an old hotel and to expect the noise the hotel will greatly satisfy anyone.

Room Tip: Get something at the top level to eliminate any foot traffic noise above your head while you sleep.

The luscious patio and pool, the great view, the clean and comfortable rooms, the good location and a delicious sushi restaurant close by... it was just perfect. The best Best Western I ever stayed in.

The BW Sunset Plaza is truly the best deal around & conveniently located close to many local tourist attractions. As for the front desk staff, Brenda was nice enough to upgrade us to a larger suite for our extended stay. Although you may pull up to the front door to unload your luggage, to access the lower level parking you must drive around the corner to enter the self-parking garage from the back of the hotel. The rooms are very adequate & clean in this charming, Spanish-style stucco building. Ask for a room facing the flowering, vine-covered inner courtyard with a view of the pool. The inclusive breakfast offers cereal, yogurt, pastries, hard-boiled eggs & waffles, so you may wish to take a walk to one of the nearby restaurants. This hotel is a good value for the price & it is very well-rated by many others on this site.

Room Tip: Room facing pool courtyard
