We stayed at the Chateau to celebrate a birthday and were bowled over with the atmosphere and attention to detail of the staff. Entrance to the hotel is through a secluded side street and we were greeted on arrival by Walter who proceeded to make us feel like regular guests. Fifteen minutes later we had the tour of the hotel and our cases were stored ready for room check-in.
Easy!
We decided to explore the strip for an hour till the room was ready and were loving the ability to walk, safely along such a famous area of Hollywood.
Back at check-in, we were informed our original choice of room was not ready, but a suite was being offerred instead. Never one to turn down an upgrade, we happilly accepted!
First night turned out very well, with a personal birthday serenade from Ronnie (a long time, well respected member of staff).
His birthday rendition was surreal, yet memorable. Welcome to LA.
Our suite was lovely and very spacious. Yes its a bit more "lived in" than the minimal palaces, but then again, so is West Hollywood. Attention to detail is key here, from the period details through to staff remembering your first names.
Second night, we dined outside in the courtyard. This was particularly atmospheric, due to the dramatic lighting and tall trees around the courtyard, creating an intimate, ambient environment. Food was of a standard in keeping with the price.
Celebrities? Yes, in abundance, but try the Chateau experience for yourself to fully relate to what it offers in terms of a memorable stay in Old Hollywood.
