“Honeymoon Roadtrip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 6, 2012

We stayed here in September as part of our Honeymoon roadtrip. John and Lucy were incredibly hospitable and really looked after us. They helped us with planning taxi's and even with hotels for the rest of our trip. The view from the roof terrace is amazing too!

My husband and I arrived at Laurel Inn to be warmly greeted by John and his cats Princess and Foxy (I am not a cat person but these two are soooo cute!). John was so friendly...he asked us about our travels and what our plans were whilst in LA. We told him that that evening we were planning to visit Santa Monica. He suggested a restaurant (which was fantastic) and even booked a table for us and printed out the confirmation! He then showed us to our apartment (well it was more like a house). It has a dining room/kitchen/lounge which has all the amenities you need, including a bar that you helped yourself to and settled up at the end. :) There were a wide range of dvd's and books too. Then upstairs was a lovely spacious, clean bedroom with a large tv and comfortable bed. The shower was fab...after a long day...it really cleared your cobwebs away! And then of course was the views from the upstairs roof patio with 360 degree view of the hollywood sign, Century City and Beverly Hills. The apartment is around the corner from melrose avenue...shopping heaven. We wanted to do a bus tour of LA but didn't really know which to do. John suggested one for us and even offered to take us into downtown hollywood which was so incredibly kind. Luckily though, the bus tour he advised picked you up on melrose avenue and what a tour it was...we saw everything we wanted in LA in one day for a really good price (City sightseeing). And at the end of the day it dropped us back at melrose avenue so no need for a hike home! We got to meet Lucy as we were checking out who was equally as charming as John but we never got to say goodbye to John so to you both, thank you so much for a wonderful stay and if we are lucky enough to ever return to LA, we know where we will be staying. :)

We stayed with John and Lucy for 3 nights and really enjoyed the experience. They are wonderful hosts. We didn't rent a car (but do recommend it, as it made it a little difficult to explore LA), so John and Lucy even took us for a tour of the Hollywood strip themselves!

The space is so large, in a great location and has wonderful views.

All the great things others say about this place is true. Don't waste your money on fancy hotels nearby, this place is definitely a better option for the price. Plus, you get the bonus of meeting these wonderful people!

Yes, All the reviews are for real!
West Hollywood really is a neighborhood full of down to earth people and neat little stores/groceries and more --if that's what you are looking for. Glitz as well, but John and Lucy's place is everything all the other reviews have stated--accessable, quiet, relaxing and oh so comfy with great views. We would try and keep it a secret, but they deserve to be booked!
The cats are a trip--Princess especially--and I am not a cat person. Have thought of doing a small B & B (or rather an apt like this) and it is perfect. Lessons learned. Friendly, private, and great location and hosts.

My partner and I stayed at the Laurel Inn for two days. We were met by the wonderful owners upon arrival. We were made to feel like we were visiting good friends. Very good, honest, friendly people to do business with. We couldn't believe what we received for the money. Private entrance, beautiful yard and sitting area, classic neighborhood, views of the Hollywood sign from the roof top sitting area, private bar, and a super comfy bed. Highly recommend visiting the Laurel Inn.

I needed a place to stay in WeHo, found this place on TripAdvisor, and decided to give it a try. Very glad I did! The website isn't too great, but that's really the only criticism I have all around. Originally they were booked the days I needed to stay, but an opening came up and John emailed me about it, so I snapped it up. Upon arriving, he came to meet us out front and give us the basic run-down, parking pass, etc.

The house itself is charming -- if you're looking for something ultra-modern that makes you feel like you're Paris Hilton, look somewhere else. But if you're looking for somewhere that feels like a home base in WeHo, this is your place. The view from the roof area is spectacular, the location is great (there are a lot of walkable places nearby), the place is clean and in good order, and it even has a bar! John has a couple of cats too, and gave us the option of leaving the cat door open if we'd like visitors -- which we did!

Only problem I had was that the city does street cleaning Monday mornings and it was a bit tough to find a place to park my car. But after driving around a bit, I found lots of spaces two blocks away on North Crescent Heights Blvd (and checked with a meter maid that was ticketing someone right by the Laurel Inn, just to make sure that was okay to park at). So no biggie, really.

I highly recommend this place, and will be staying here again the next time I go to West Hollywood (assuming they're not booked up!). John even undercharged me, and when I offered to send him my credit card number he said don't worry about it. What a guy! Very laid-back and cool. "Good energy" as the hippies might say.
