“A wonderful hotel in a great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2010

This hotel was a delight and can recommend to anyone who wants to be in West Hollywood and within a two minute walk to Beverly Hills, Sunset Strip, the famous route 66 and some excellent restaurants
The open top bus excursion was also within a two minute walk
The rooms are well laid out with very comfortable beds and free internet
A ROOF TOP GARDEN BAR AND RESTAURANT adds to the delight and having a late night supper in November with open fires a patio heaters overlooking Beverly Hills and Hollywood was a wonderful
Add to this a roof top swimming pool and a separate gym for the keep fit addicts this hotel is a little gem just waiting to be discovered

Thank you for kindly reviewing us. We are so pleased you enjoyed our custom L’Ermitage mattresses, which are made specifically for our property (Petit Ermitage is the only place in the world where you will find them) and had a chance to work out in our gym which features “Techno Gym” equipment before retiring to the Private Rooftop Club for a dip in our heated saltwater pool and dinner under the stars. Thank you so much for sharing your experience and we very much hope to have the great pleasure of welcoming you as our guest again in the near future!

From the moment you arrive to Petit, there is a warm welcome from the staff...and the aroma of scented candles everywhere. I chose this hotel based on all the great feedbacks from Trip Adv contributors. I love little boutique hotels and I felll in love with the rooftop pool/bar/restaurant lounge area. It reminded me of some of the rooftop restaurant/bars in Athens. The hotel is on the bohemic side decorated with beautiful artworks everywhere you turn. It is elegantly furnished and clean, clean, clean! The electric fireplace in my suite was also a nice touch as LA was on the chilly side in the evenings. The elevator is special too....made of rich wood with copper doors or is it bronze??

The friendly staff looks happy, very approachable and that reflects to the success of the hotel. New restaurant manager, Steven Song, newly transplanted from Chicago also made me feel at home as we exchanged our experiences on hotels and restaurants. Hummingbirds galore too which made the place that much more special. I applaud this hotel as it will be my favorite place in Los Angeles. It may be 30 min from the airport but it is worth the travel. I didn't get to venture out....how could I, the hotel was enough to do all the exploring and hanging in/out, or whatever you call it. I stayed upstairs on the rooftop all day......couldn't get enough of the view but mostly, the romantic allure, and the gorgeous set up just took my breath away! Thank you to Ryler and the rest of the staff for making my stay so comfortable. Thank you Steven, you are a complete fit to Petit Ermitage! And, thank you Stefan for making our dreams come true to making my stay at Petit a worldly experience!

Thank you so much for kindly reviewing our property and noting that you chose to stay with us based on the excellent feedback you read on Trip Advisor! Personal recommendations from those we have been fortunate to have as our guests are the most sincere compliments we are lucky enough to receive! Perhaps the only compliment more lovely, is that in relation to our staff – whom we are so pleased you found to be welcoming, accommodating and eager to serve. The aroma that greeted you upon your arrival in the lobby was that of our custom candle. Our candles are made specifically for our property and composed of entirely natural coconut oil. In addition to being fragranced with our custom scent, they can be used as a soothing skin balm when heated. Our elevator, which has copper trimmings, is also custom and in keeping with the design esthetic of the property, is lined in wood and graced by an unusual combination of gilded antique ornate mirrors and modern exposed lighting. We are so honored to be your favorite place in LA and very much look forward to having the pleasure of your company again in the near future!

My fiance planned his proposal at this lovely hotel and it was the most unforgettable night of my life! The rooms are so homely and cozy, the rooftop restaurant has the most amazing views with the most romantic ambiance... I felt like I was in a European town far away from the busy city life. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a romantic getaway with their significant other, or even for a fun weekend away with some friends. It is also very close to a bunch of great bars, clubs, and restaurants.

I couldnt have asked for a more romantic or perfect proposal!!!

Thank you so much for kindly reviewing our property and sharing your experience while you were with us. Please allow us to congratulate you on your engagement and express how honored we were to be a part of this happy occasion! Our Private Rooftop Club is considered one of the most romantic places in the city and our suites were designed with rich warm colors, textured textiles and subtle lighting with the very same thing in mind! We very much hope to have the great pleasure of welcoming you back when you celebrate the anniversary of your engagement – or perhaps for your wedding… On behalf of the Petit Ermitage family, congratulations again!

When you first step into this wonderful boutique hotel it's magic wakes up your all of your Senses. First, thru the beautiful Scent that fills the entrance, (heard they make their own candles) even if you are jet-laged, the Scent of those candles begins to Wake you up. Then, all at once, you Realize this is that special place you have Imagined from the very first moment you booked your trip..It only gets better... Petit Ermitage is one of those places where nothing is allowed to ever go wrong. All of the staff seem to Love their jobs, and it Shows in their performance. BTW sometimes it is hard to distinguish between guests and staff. Everyone is so smart Looking. Picture a European small hotel tucked away on some back street, far from the maddening crowds! It is wonderfully Quite, and Serene. The Rooms are spotless, as well as the beds and bedding. The shower head is by Waterworks and you Feel the perfect flow of water pressure. (very important to some of us) We had several meals/drinks up on the roof top Pool/Garden and the food Tastes great, the View is spectacular and the true essence of what they are about, Shines brightly!! They offer total privacy thru out the hotel, which is wonderful and special. Petit Ermitage is something every one should experience sometime in their life. You will not regret it! The Liaison to Happiness will see to that! I am Planning another stay real soon..

Room
The room was nicely appointed and had lots of character. The room felt spacious and had plenty of storage space. The kitchen and dining area were nice, clean and functional. The room had a mini-bar with an extensive selection of spirits. The bed was comfortable with nice pillows and linen.

Service
All of the staff are very friendly and extremely professional.

Facilities
Swimming pool area was very relaxing with great views over the West Hollywood area. Sunbeds were really comfortable and service around the pool was faultless. Plenty of sunbeds, pool towels and regular top-up of ice-cold water. We had lunch and dinner at the restaurant which was amazing. One of the most romantic settings for dinner we have been to.

Location
The hotel is brilliantly located. A very short walk (less than 5 mins) to Sunset Bvd and it bars, restaurants and shops. About 5 mins walk in the other direction to Santa Monica Bvd. Whilst it is conveniently located, it is also on a quiet residential street so very little noise day or night.

Negatives
The lighting in the room was a little too dark. The air conditioning was fairly ineffective.

Staff was friendly and the hotel has made a huge effort to rennovate this former 1970s apartment building. The rooms are generous in size and the artwork is very chic. But the beds are small and the air conditioners are very noisy. If you turn off the AC and open the window, the sounds from the outside are also loud. The place seemed kind of creepy to us, really. Nice experience to stay there but we'll stay elsewhere next time.

I wish the friendly, attentive telephone reservation agent worked the front desk of the hotel. We were told that we could get the AAA discount, but would need to speak with the front desk. Once there, the front desk staff looked confused and apologized saying "the manager just stepped out". We never got the discount, and were never contacted by the manager.

The desk clerk seemed very impressed at having been able to give us "a very nice upgrade". I'm confused. I booked a one bedroom suite, I payed for a 1 bedroom suite, and we got a 1 bedroom suite. What was the upgrade, or is the website picture of 1 bedroom suites bait and switch in which case we were "lucky" to get what we reserved and payed for?? We looked straight out into an apartment building. Not the "city view or hillside view" we had been told we would have a choice of.

The bathtub looked just like the small, low, shower tub combo in my first apartment 27 years ago. All the water works fixtures in the world couldn't make that bathtub/shower combo look inviting.

It was my daughter's 21st birthday (the reason for staying here). We were told by the reservation agent that they would do something small and fun for her. They did NOTHING. Not so much as a birthday greeting, chocolate, or small bottle of cheap wine. Nothing. When I called at 10:30pm to check on what they were planning, the girl said "you want to do something, or you want us to do something?" I said "so you have no plans, correct?". She said "no". When I told her what we had been told she said she would have the "Liaison of Happiness" call me. He never did, and they never did.

The roof top garden was lovely, but our cocktail waitress asked my husband to "tell her a little bit about what goes into a Manhattan" so she could tell the bartender. I told her, the bartender would know. How can a cocktail waitress never have heard of a Manhattan!
