My wife and I spent a weekend relaxing and shopping in Hollywood and stayed at The Standard. Good location, near several good bars and restaurants. Check out the Cabo Cantino across the street for some great happy hour deals. We ate lunch next to Marlon Wayans and Mike Epps and waited at the valet with Pauly Shore. But before you make your reservations, know what your getting into. Loud music in the lobby and pool area basically 24/7. Best rooms in the place are on the back corners, away from Sunset Blvd. and the pool. Great little barbershop downstairs that seems to be open 24 hours a day. Drinks are pricey, but there is lots of options in the neighborhood. Staff was friendly and helpful.

I stayed here in January for 3 nights and had blocked out just how terrible it was. But I'm returning to LA soon and the memories have resurfaced. So many of these reviews are spot on - don't stay here unless you are still at college, like hanging out with frat parties or are an insomniac who can't get to sleep before 5am anyway. The rooms are spacious but I suppose that's because there's not much in them. The walls are also paper thin and I lost count of the number of times I got woken up by the people having a party in the next door room. When I phoned down to complain the front desk really weren't interested and when they finally did send someone up, I lay in bed listening to the guests badmouthing me for complaining. I think the lowest point was arriving back one evening to find out my room was directly above the club. The music was so loud that the bottles in the minibar were literally shaking. The only good thing was breakfast in the diner style restaurant - if you go before 11am you tend to have the place to yourself as most of the guests must still be bed sleeping off their hangovers. This review may make me sound grumpy and old but I just like to be able to go to sleep in a hotel when I want whether it's 11pm or 5am. I sincerely hope that I will never stay anywhere as bad as this.

the standard in west hollywood is all about the location.
you are on the strip and near restaurants and bars.

this is definitely not somewhere to go for a relaxing weekend.
it is a "scene".

listen to the wannabe actors talk to their agents in the diner.

we had fun, but that's cause we weren't expecting the 4 seasons.

the hotel has everything other reviewers described...
thin walls, cheap (ikea) decor, and hipsters everywhere.
but if you want a lively weekend in WEHO, then this is a good place for it.

we stayed at the standard west hollywood for two nights after two nights previously at the standard downtown (which was a great hotel, but terrible location for a couple of party girls!).

we arrived at 9am and were checked in straight away. furnishings are simple, but comfortable, but boy oh boy did that orange bathroom burn my retnas.

had a fantastic night at the bar on the tuesday night (it was a vip night).

it's in a good location, and the staff were friendly and helpful. they organised a rental car to be delivered and answered all questions cheerfully. there's some cute waiters in the diner, which doesn't hurt!

we got a base rate of $150 per night, as we were on the ground floor.

couple of annoying things though - internet was overpriced, but that's LA. Also, when we asked at the front desk how we best get to the airport we were told the only real way was a taxi ($35 plus tip!). But then upon further investigation, we discovered that The Standard actually has an arrangement with Super Shuttle, for $15. ---

Enjoyed the Standard. Had a great time. Would definitely recommend for people who are generally unfussy and just want a base during their stay.
