“Enjoyables stay in a very trendy/young oriented hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 7, 2012

Had a great stay at the standard, a very design boutique hotel The hotel is very well located, in a quiet zone but close to amazing places. The room is nicely designed with minimalistic furniture, and is clean. Enjoyed all the little things that you can buy there (sleeping pills, cd's...). I was happy to have a little balcony. The pool area is great, whether you want to enjoy or avoid the sun. The service was relaxed, good and professional in every interaction that I had. The food, cocktails and coffees were all great, especially by the pool. Was nice to have a hairdresser on property too. I enjoyed my stay there very much but wouldn't advise families to go there: this a young, trendy and dynamic hotel, which attracts the same kind of clientele.

Room Tip: Do avoid low floors near the pool. It is a bit loud, especially at night as people chat there. I'...

The design hotel Standard in Hollywood is just cool and the restaurant recalls the 50´s diner. The rooms are trashy chic which is a bit awkward in the first moment but totally in line with the overall design of the hotel so one have to get used to it and then it is fine. Nice swimmingpool area, very helpful staff, valet parking which is pefect for someone not used to the L.A. freeways and the traffic there..you just drive in and relax..besides some of the best comedy clubs in the city in the walking distance not to mention Chateau Marmont..I would stay there again.

I loved The Standard because it completely suits my style and taste. The rooms are decorated in a minimalist style with great beds. The pool is great as is the location. I was able to walk around to Veggie Grill for a great wholesome meal. At the pool I enjoyed excellent house fish tacos. The hotel called for my taxi promptly. No families or screaming children or big group parties of people added to my pleasurable stay. I'll be back.

Room Tip: I think any room would be fine but mine had a balcony onto Sunset Boulevarde

Great boutique hotel in West Hollywood. Loved the foyer, pool and several bars, the wall behind the reception at night turns into a living window with a girl posing behind the glass. Just to the left of the lobby every night opens a member club uber exclusive called Smoke and Mirrors owned by Paul Sevigny, if you are lucky to be allowed in, to enter you pass through the kitchen and find yourself into this tiny dark club among Hollywood stars and many wannabes.
One negative point, the carpet outside our door was totally dismantled and should have been fixed, it looked horrible.

I Love and hate this place. Its a beautifully hip hotel and the design really is a refreshing change from the cookie cutter mold. But my biggest complaint is that the hotel seems to prioritize people who want to party, drink, or eat here. Not so great for people who are staying.

We were on the second floor facing the pool. View of the city was nice and all rooms have a large spacious balcony. Our stay was for a week. It's a hotel for young people. All who work on the front lines here are young and most clients between 30-40 or so it seems.

Awesome bedding. Good Internet connection. Cool bathroom but no tub, in case this is a must for you. Room design was a refreshing departure from your standard cookie cutter hotel.

24 hr restaurant on site, delish food. You can dine poolside.

The bad:

Music constantly blasting. I know it's highly objective but they do have great DJS and really good taste in music, but it's impossible to get away from the music when you want a break - its in the lobby, in the restaurant, it's in the front where cars pulls up, and worst of all you will hear it in your room if you're facing poolside. It's impossible to get away from unless you leave the premises. There is always a party at the Standard. I would absolutely love this place if this wasn't the case. Saving grace is they turn the music off at midnight.

Other cons- their shampoo and conditioner is non brand identifiable since they are in refillable bottles and they suck. Completely dried out my hair. Also their hair dryers are the tiny weak ones.

Lastly, no gym but if you show your room key at Crunch you can pay $16 to get in.

Quick business trip to LA. Client selected the Standard. Interesting, but not in a good way. In a weird and unaccommodating way.

The front desk clerk more interested in her headgear than in guest service. DJ blasting music late at night in a feeble attempt to appear hip and cool to an empty lobby. Strangely colored and dim lighting, ripped up carpeting in the hallways, half furnished rooms, and a floor waxing session at 6am that created a bizarre and sadly funny checkout gauntlet.

If this is cool, I'll pass. But I think it's more Meh.

For me personally the standard meets all my requirements and some. It's centrally located, within walking distance of most things I'm in Hollywood for and with a bus stop out the front its not hard to get anywhere. Even in the room facing sunset strip I didn't have any trouble sleeping and the balcony is a nice touch so rarely seen in hotel rooms these days.
The pool and lobby are fantastic and it's the kind of hotel where you could easily just hang out in. My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable and I wouldnt hesitate staying here again.
