“The Pearl of Watsonville”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 2, 2013

La Perla is my favorite restaurant in Watsonville! Somewhat hidden behind smoky windows in a small site right on Main Street it is easy to overlook, but once you know it's there you'll never forget the place. Totally authentico, this is an unglamorous but warm and very friendly place to eat. The owner's daughter is usually our waitress and she is incredibly helpful and friendly. Ron and I each had an order of camarones en ranchero sauce last time we were there and it was so delicious; and so much food! Ron and I had enough for lunch the next day, as well. Ron drank a Negro Modelo and I had a chelado (although they call it by a slightly different name) made of Corona beer and clamato juice - yummy! Other goodies to try: pulpo (octopus) and oysters. They also make a fabulous camarones in garlic sauce. In fact, everything is wonderful.

“Great Mexican Seafood in santa Cruz County”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 27, 2013

Another great find thanks to reviews on Yelp and TA. Terrific Mexican seafood! We had the shrimp ceviche and fish tacos (grilled and fried were both great.) Not a fancy place, but the food is excellent and very reasonably priced.$2.00 Pacifico beers :) They have some kind of seafood plate in a red sauce that people at another table had...everyone said it was great. For next time!

“Mexican seafood with great, flavorful sauces”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

I'm a local but just recently learned of this restaurant, which the owners state has been here for 23 years. It's small, very casual and caters to locals, located on Main Street in downtown Watsonville. Very friendly atmosphere, owner's daughter with a delightful personality was our waitress. Four of us dined for dinner and every dish was excellent. Majority of menu items contained shrimp, scallops, octopus, and/or fish. The sauces were what amazed me, different than the usual and full of flavor. If you like heat go for the al diabla (diablo?) sauces. The ceviche was excellent, definitely going back for more of that. Chile rellenos also excellent. Fish taco with grilled fish was excellent. Shrimp, scallop, octopus fajita- excellent. Homemade corn tortillas excellent. Portions were generous. Will definitely return to this family restaurant.

“Great Mexican Seafood Dishes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

Excellent! We called ahead with a party of 10and they were able to accommodate us within 20 minutes. The place is on the small side, but the service is prompt and friendly and the food is great. I had the garlic shrimp and there was no shortage of garlic. Extensive choice of seafood items on the menu. They also have classic Mexican breakfast dishes available all day, in addition to conventional Mexican cuisine. However you should really order one of the seafood entrees.
