“Nice location - Pleasant Hill BART is DIRECTLY across the street”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 19, 2012

If you know Embassy Suites, you'll know this place. The rooms are clones of ES rooms anywhere, albeit clean, and tastefully decorated.
The service is friendly, if a bit detached.
We had a room with a phenomenal view of Mt. Diablo on one of the hottest days of the year (104), so we did make use of the air conditioning!
The breakfast was a little odd, when walking towards the dining area, the sausages, French toast and hash browns are in warming pans right at the entrance to the grill area, the omelette station (where, oddly enough, you have to ask for bacon) is inside in a separate area, and the juice, cereal, and bread are in yet another room. The food quality was fair.
My biggest problem with the property was the valet parking: it's mandatory (which I don't really mind if it's well done - it isn't). There was a large crowd, and cars were brought up and parked in front of the port cochere, then other cars would be brought up and double parked next to those unattended vehicles; the end result was a traffic jam which took up to 10 minutes to negotiate when returning to the hotel.
Within a reasonable distance of the property are a Boston Market, Sweet Tomatoes, Fuddrucker's, Target, Walgreen's, multiple Starbucks and myriad other outlets.
If they sort out the parking, I would return.

Room Tip: Get one on the Mt. Diablo side.

Stayed here for one night for a business meeting next door. Romm was nice and clean and comfortable but a little warm and AC didn;t see to cool it off much. I do like my rooms frosty. Once complaint i have is the shower. First you have to get in and then turn on the water. Got slpashed with ice cold water and had to try to avoid the water while I adjuested the temp. Also, they have water saver showerheads that make it very difficult to get the shampoo out of your hair.

Room Tip: Get a room away from the BART tracks

We had reservations at a nearby Hyatt this last weekend, 6/8 & 6/9/12. They were overbooked, so they comped a room for us at this Embassy Suites. The Hyatt representative told us she had called ahead to the Embassy Suites, and gave us a letter from management confirming that they would cover the complete hotel stay, including incidentals and valet parking.

Once we got to the Embassy Suites, however, they did not seem to know anything about us. We were told their computer system was down. They looked at the letter from Hyatt for a verrrrrry long time, and even then they still requested a credit card imprint. They finally checked us in.

The morning we checked out, however, we received an invoice charging us for the complete stay. When my husband complained to the front desk, he was told that the stay would be charged to his credit card(???). Eventually he received a verbal confirmation that the room stay would be billed to Hyatt, but the staff still resisted printing a new copy of the invoice showing a zero balance. Then they told him that the comp would not include valet parking, which Hyatt explicitly included. The woman at the desk was openly skeptical when my husband told her this, and insisted on calling the Hyatt to confirm. Kind of insulting.

Finally, with the intervention of a manager, my husband received a printed invoice showing that the complete stay would be charged to Hyatt.

This is all really too bad, because the Embassy Suites Walnut Creek is a nice hotel. It's conveniently located, has a beautiful lobby, and one of the better breakfast buffet setups I've seen. We travel to this area frequently and would definitely have considered staying there again, but this customer service experience really soured us, so now we probably won't.

Room Tip: There's a BART train that runs right next to the hotel, so we requested an upper level room as f...

We stayed at the walnut creek on 6/2/12 had a reservation through 6/9/12. We wanted to remove one night, so I made the change with the front desk upon arrival. I asked if the remaining days on the reservation would stay the same, and he said yes. But when we left on 6/5/12 to stay at the beach in Santa Cruz, the front desk said our rate was going to go from 94 dollars to 141 dollars for the remaining 3 nights. I told them it should not change since I have a reservation for a rate of 94 and I only removed 1 night. They said they cancelled our first reservation and made a new one at the 141 dollars. I told them the person who checked me in said he could remove one night and the reservation would stay the same. She said she couldn't chage the rate and she would have a supervisor call me, because he was not there and he gets in at 2 pm. I waited until 3pm with no response and called several times before finally speaking to a supervisor around 7:30 pm. He said he would not honor our rate of 94 dollars, but he could cancel our reservation and we could stay some where else. I was not happy, so I called the 1-800 number and spoke to several people over the next 3 days. Finally, on the last night of our stay I had to go down stairs and talk to the front desk supervisor Mohammed face to face. He was extremely rude, but he finally agreed to adjust our rate to the original amount. I don't think you should have to spent 4 to 5 hours of a vacation to get a room rate that you have a reservation for. If we didn't have this issue, we would have been more than pleased with our stay.

Room Tip: Tried to stay away from the Bart system

This is one of the better Embassy Suites I have stayed in. The entrance/lobby is beautiful, the front desk was extremely helpful and courteous. The rooms were extremely large and comfortable. Of course their happy hour and breakfast was good as usual. This location had a Lobby Ambassador who walked around and recommended restaurants/things to do, and she was fantastic. Great place to stay and would definitely go back.

The accomodations at this hotel are just about perfect for a business traveler - or even a vacation traveler. Although the room decor is relatively pedestrian, it has all the features you could ask for: separate living and sleeping quarters, each with its own large flat-screen TV; fridge and microwave; comfortable bathroom and shower, well stocked with good soaps/shampoos/lotions. But the real kicker, in my opinion, are the complimentary breakfast (not the typical, spare continental breakfast, but a fully cooked-to-order breakfast well prepared) and the complimentary drinks during their 5:30-7:30 cocktail our - perfect for unwinding after a busy day. And the staff was, at least on my trip, unfailingly profession, friendly, accommodating.

Room Tip: Get a room on the opposite side of where BART trains pass. I'm told by those whose rooms were on...
