“Another great stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

This was our second stay at this hotel. We were in town for the Tough Mudder race in Temecula, so this was a convenient option. We had a great stay the first time about a year ago, and this time was great as well. The staff is very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is extremely clean with flawless internet etc.

We had to check out really early to get to the race on time, so the breakfast buffet wasn't open yet. The staff still accomodated us, and let us take some of the items that were available. Much appreciated.

Will definitely stay here again.

Dear Jay J,

Thanks for coming back to our hotel during your trip down to compete in the Tough Mudder! I saw you and your family as you were heading out the door, and hope you did well! It was warm that Saturday!

We look forward to seeing you when you return from the rainy Pacific Northwest!

Located oddly in a business district sort of hidden from everything else but malls are a short 10-15minute drive away. Nice contemporary decor. FREE breakfast, parking, and wi-fi were a plus. We were a family of 4 (kids are 3 and 5) and our 2queen room was oh soo spacious. Didn't like that the bathroom was directly in front of the bed so when I got up early to get ready before the kids I had to do things with minimal lighting. No safe but a decent sized fridge. Also liked that there was a separate living area with a pull out. Breakfast was delicious and had hot items and a microwave was available. We stayed here for 3nights and traveled to the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld San Diego, and Legoland.

Mahalo 808mommi!

Thanks for spending your vacation from the islands with our hotel! I am delighted that you and your family enjoyed your time with us!

Our spacious rooms are perfect for a family of four and our other complimentary amenities create a compelling value for those looking to stretch their dollar!

We are less than an hour drive from SeaWorld, the San Diego Zoo and the Safari Park (and 5 minutes from LEGOLAND)!

We hope to see you again soon!

When we first walked in, there was a dirty, wet face cloth sitting on the night stand. A pack n play playpen for our baby that was dirty and had holes and the mattress pad for it was thin and had a giant lump in the middle from being folded which the baby kept waking up all night because of it. And in other hotels we have stayed in, you can request microwave if the room doesn't have one already and it will be delivered to your room. Not this hotel. So if you have a baby, don't count on being able to warm up a bottle of milk quickly in the middle of the night or food because you will have to go all the way downstairs to the breakfast centre past the front desk. There's no bath tub so be prepared to either not bathe your baby or hold a scared screaming child in the shower with you and try to clean them at the same time. There were French fries left on the floor by the couch. Fridge didn't close tight and we had to put a suitcase against it to keep it closed because we lost food and yogurt before discovering it. We waited 4 hours with 2 requests to have extra pillows and towels brought up. Area of hotel is kind of weird. There's nothing around it. So don't expect to be able to walk anywhere for shopping or convenience stores.

Dear Bits58,

I do sincerely apologize for the issues you experienced while staying with us last week. It is frustrating to have these type of issues when traveling with a baby. I hope that our discussions regarding your concerns left you confident in our desire to exceed your expectations for your next trip to our area in December. I have discussed your comments with our housekeeping and engineering departments and they have addressed the issues with their teams.

As I stated in our discussions, we are unable to provide microwaves in the guest room per Hyatt brand standards, but we understand that guests like to be able to heat up items like bottles and leftover pizza so our team are ready to meet your needs by heating up whatever you need 24 hours a day. In all of our King bedded rooms we provide walk-in shower enclosures, but in our rooms with two queen beds we do have tubs.

There is not a convenience store or shopping mall within walking distance, but we are 1 mile from the Bressi Ranch Shopping Center with everything from Trader Joe's to a Shell gas station and myriad dining options. Our complimentary shuttle can take up to 7 at a time there in less than 5 minutes.

We look forward to your return later this year, and are eager to redeem ourselves!

This hotel has it all: great location, comfortable rooms, good breakfast buffet and friendly staff. We booked our rooms with group sales/booking for our kids' school team and couldn't be more happy with our experience there. We would stay at the hotel again!

Came here as our home base for visiting LegoLand, Sea World, and other San Diego attractions. Very nice new rooms, amazing breakfast, very clean rooms and hotel, super friendly front desk. Only complaint is towels - had to ask a few times to get towels at the pool, and even though we are a family of 4 we only got 3 towels in our room each day.

Dear Kristi O,

Thank you so much for making us your home base for your San Diego Vacation! It was great to meet you and your family last night in the Guest Kitchen, and I am glad you are enjoying the pizza from Flippin' Pizza across the street! I'm sorry we couldn't find any hockey to put on the big TV's!

I have passed on your comments regarding the towels to our housekeeping team, and we will ensure this doesn't reoccur. Even though in our King rooms we only put three towels typically, our team need to be aware that there are four needed.

Travel safely back to Calgary, we appreciate your patronage!

A creative corporate genius designed the Hyatt Place "look" and its refreshing change from the pleasantly-vapid-hotel norm, to offer a trendy, independent urban hotel feel in big-name brand. An earthy palette of soft orange, gold, and sage in mid-century-Danish-modern-style furnishings and soft goods create a relaxing, casual atmosphere--nice touches of nickel trim, brown marble and simple graphic carpet give it a cool edge. Even the staff have green or orange sweaters--a fun, relaxed departure from the typical front-desk vest or suit jacket. A nicely unusual visual first impression and one to put the hip of any age at ease.

Great customer service both night and morning. My husband and I stayed there after my birthday bash, and the young woman at the front desk couldn't have been more pleasant or helpful, giving us the lay of the land--and me a birthday cupcake--and carefully informing us of hotel services and amenities. It was a Saturday night, and as of 9 pm the hotel was pleasantly quiet and tranquil, with no street noise to speak of. A room attendant was making a bit of clatter across the hall in a service room around 8 pm, but finished up quickly and that was that.

The AC was great, the bedding was great, the shower pressure was great, and for the green-minded consumer, there is an array of energy-saving features built right in. I really enjoyed the continuation of the Danish modern palette and furnishing style in the bedroom, which included a chic little half wall to screen the business / living area from the bed area.

Would have brought a bathing suit had I known there is a swimming pool and Jacuzzi. The breakfast buffet is really good--excellent coffee, scrambled eggs and sausage, and the usual cereals, toast, and juices.

As a local, I would advise the would-be visitor to the area to head east on Palomar Airport Road to the neighboring town on San Marcos for a night out. PAR becomes San Marcos Blvd as it crosses Rancho Santa Fe. Once it turns into SMB, about 1/2 to 1 mile later is an Edwards Cinema complex cheek-to-jowl with Restaurant Row, which has a lot of bars and restaurants--Chinese, Japanese, Mexican, Indian, Thai, American, and more--and a wonderful coffee house called Old California, a big favorite with the locals. During the day, head west on PAR about 8-10 miles for the ocean, LEGOLAND, and Carlsbad Premium Outlets. Another 3 to 4 miles north along the ocean you'll enter Carlsbad Village with its main-street attractions.

Beach lovers may still want to pick a hotel in western Carlsbad to be near the ocean, and people who want to stroll around a small, pretty town and visit boutiques, antique shops, and intimate restaurants may want to choose Carlsbad Village. but if you can take or leave the ocean and Carlsbad "character," and just need a clean, well-serviced, well-priced place in the area to camp out, for business or pleasure, Hyatt Place is a really excellent option. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Our room, 318, was directly opposite a room-service supply room and someone did work there at night...

Stayed at this hotel one night. The rate was decent ($109) and the studio room was pretty large with a King bed. The shower and bathroom was very nice and clean.

The front desk personnel were attentive and pleasant. The internet connectivity was excellent, the HD television large. They even had the set up for practicing a multimedia presentation from your laptop if you needed in your room.

For me it was good value.

Room Tip: The only problem was getting in the parking lot if you were driving into Vista on Melrose. You'l...

Dear whiskyandgolf,

Thank you for staying with us earlier this month! I am excited to hear that our value, service, cleanliness and suite of amenities met your needs, and am delighted to be of service to a fellow Texan! Yes, our HDTV's have a plug panel that allows a guest to stream data from any device to our large 42" HDTV's such as movies, Powerpoint presentations, or you can just check your e-mail!

Thanks for the tip regarding the need to hang a u-turn on Melrose to enter the parking lot when headed northbound on Melrose.

I hope to see you again soon! I love your handle BTW!
