“Marriott Vasalia Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

This Marriott is close to the centre of Visalia yet it's surprisingly quiet. It's a useful base if you want to visit the National Parks nearby. The hotel is comfortable and the staff welcoming. We ate in the bar area and I can recommend the Caesar salad with chicken, plus the blue cheese salad with the steak.

Room Tip: For a quiet night ask for a room at the rear of the hotel.

We stayed one night at this hotel as part of our tour of California, Arizona and Nevada. When we arrived at our room we weren't happy with the soundproofing so we changed rooms to 413. The furniture is a lovely dark wood with beautiful granite surfaces. There was a large TV with a lovely polished wooden desk and a very comfy office chair. We overlooked a pretty (and quiet) courtyard at the back. The coffee making area was nice (see photo). The bathroom had a very shallow bath and one had to do a little dance to get into the bathroom and shut the door as the door was very close to the toilet.
We were disapponted that there was no safe. There was just one large bed. This room isnt far from the lifts and the coffee machine. The air conditioning in the corridors was very fierce indeed, we were freezing as soon as we left our room.
We ate in the hotel, chicken and rice soup, fish and chips and creme brulee. The prices were very reasonable.
The trip to the park the next day was fantastic and is one of the very most amazing of memories that will stay with us.

This was the hotel where we were supposed to meet family from The Netherlands as well.
When we checked in with Carlos, he said that they had no record of staying there and it might have been my mistake of hotel. So we went to check on the other Marriott in town to find out what I already knew and that they were nowhere to be found! So back to Carlos and I asked him if they have a record of people who have never checked in and hey, he found that they checked out that morning. What? Impossible! To make a long story short, we decided to have dinner in the lobby (recommendable!!) and await the whole situation.
Luckily for us, my family arrived just after that, being in Sequoia that day as well. So after explaining the whole situation to my cousin, he frowned his eyebrows and said that their suitcases were still in the room! So somebody needs to start thinking better! He made us think they may have driven of a cliff or something, which is not unlikely there.

Back to the hotel: when you come in, some Gomez will hold the door for you. Thank you, but I can do it myself.
You know how the desk is, the lobby restaurant is great! Close to 5 star food for 4 star prices. Both enjoyed it!
The room was okay, but for the early booked 120 dollars, I expected more of it and wasn't very well finished in the bathroom. The ceiling had paint blisters and that was something we experienced and expected in the local Super 8. Not here!
In the room you have a large 40 inch TV, with mainly HD channels, mostly sports. Wifi is not for free in any way. Expensive!
When going by elevator, everything flies, no time to talk!

Overall, good if you like luxury, but a lesser hotel in town would do just as nice. We saved 30 dollars by booking at least a month in advance, otherwise we would not take this hotel.

We ended up in Vasalia late one evening on the way to Sequoia NP and picked the Marriott as the place to stay. The walk up rate was great, the room and bed were fantastic and the location was convenient to a short walk up to Main Street and numerous restaurants.

Arrived late and were happy to find a hotel who were still open. It's a basic hotel but well located, clean and tidy. The service was excellent. Rooms were adequate with good facilities. We were late for breakfast the next morning but they stayed open for us which was really appreciated.

I called ahead to ensure we had a running refrigerator put in our room. We were traveling with our son and needed it for his milk.
We arrive to a pretty much empty hotel
Go to check in and the front desk has no idea about the refrigerator but called someone to bring one up. We get to our room and first thing we hear is some "work" being done in the room right above us. I called the front and Carlos says that they indeed are working above us and that they will be done in an hour. Not once did he suggest to move us especially after I mentioned that my son needed to take his nap. The hotel is pretty much empty and yet they strategically placed us near a room that was having work done.
Refrigerator finally arrived, dirty and old but at least it arrived.

We had a great stay here. Staff were helpful and recommended a great Mexican restaurant in town at short walk away. Breakfast service was friendly, but the options weren't as good as we've experienced at other marriott hotels.

Plenty of parking outside the hotel and we had no issues.
