“Rude”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

I was so disgusted with the front desk people at this hotel that I would never go back. I room was ok. Restaurant food was good. But no vending machines, pop and ice machine did not work on our floor. Front desk people were very rude. Would not stay there again.

Just like the title says...Certainly not a bad hotel, but it doesn't stand out as stellar. Decent Food, decent rooms, decent grounds...a solid choice for a business trip to the area or a good place to stay on a central valley road trip. Convenient to CA HWY 99. It's about a 4 mile drive to downtown Visalia and the restaurants.

Like many Central Valley Hotels this is a vintage 60's one that has been remodeled in the last 10 years or so it is a little long in the tooth... Near the dog park and there is a little 1/4 mile dirt track nearby so it might be a little loud on Friday or Saturday nights during racing season.

Thank you for having chosen to stay at the Holiday Inn Visalia Hotel & Conference Center. Your overall guest experience is extremely important to our management team and we trust your accommodation was comfortable and peaceful. We are delighted to learn you noticed our convenient location and stated that our hotel is, “a solid choice for a business trip to the area or a good place to stay on a central valley road trip.”

Our property has been undergoing several upgrades, in which all our rooms have flat screen TV’s, new linen and bedding, the majority of our rooms have refrigerators and microwaves, and we have just finished a complete renovation project of our indoor pool and spa. However, we always welcome any suggestions from our guests to improve our hotel. We ask that these suggestions be sent to info@altamonthotels.com.

We appreciate the time you took to review our hotel and provide us with the significant information needed to create a higher quality product. If your future travels bring you back to Visalia, CA, we invite you to stay at the Holiday Inn as it would be a pleasure to serve you once again.

Thank you,

The Holiday Inn Visalia Hotel and Conference Center Team

I wish we had taken some pictures of the room itself, but we were frankly just too tired after 12 hours on the road. Property definitely needs some updating. Staff seemed ok, if scarce. We chose this primarily because of its boasted location next to an off leash dog park, knowing that our Springer was going to need a good run after that many hours cooped up in the car. There is a nice, clean and inviting park across the side street from the hotel, but I never did find a designated dog area. No worries though, park was nearly empty at 6 p.m. and Max was able to run to his heart's content.
Older than it looks from the pictures and really could use a good deep cleaning everywhere. Hotel was packed however and you do get the feeling that the staff is just scrambling to keep up. None too quiet either. Our room on the "back side" put us facing the airport and was noisy. Late at night it did quiet down and due to our exhaustion we got a decent night's sleep.
Overall, good not great and certainly not up to the standard of any newer Holiday Inn Express which offers more amenities. If not for our dog, I would not recommend it.

Upon walking into the lobby of the hotel, there was a loud and ruckus party going on in the bar/restaurant area. Which, in and of itself, can be OK--good energy from people having fun. Although it was really noisy. Not a problem--I got a room on the second floor on the opposite side of the building.

Walking to the elevator, the carpet was very dirty. Both stained and also with dirt/dust/particles on it, as if it had not been vacuumed in ages. Not a good sign. Perhaps, all of the people at the party in the bar tracked in the dirt. Alas, this was not the case, as the second floor hallway was just as neglected and full of dirt/particles and stains. Looked as if it hadn't been vacuumed and that the management and/or staff did not pay attention to detail and/or care.

The room itself was OK. Nothing too special. Not as dirty as the hallway, thank goodness. Bathroom was showing its age with peeling wallpaper.

Had a very good deal with Priceline. Otherwise, I would have been very annoyed to pay >$100 / night for this hotel.

Room Tip: The north side faces the freeway.

The Holiday Inn Visalia Hotel and Conference Center Team would like to apologize for the situation you encountered during your stay. Your review has been submitted to the corresponding departments for further assessment and to create a solution for the situation at hand. Gathering from the information you provided, your hotel stay was during the World Agricultural Expo Show which attracts thousands of people from around the world. For this reason our hotel was occupied at 100%, with the majority of our guests attending the mentioned event which is held on agricultural grounds. Since we were aware of the elements that would affect our hotel, our housekeeping department increased all hotel cleaning efforts. Nevertheless, it seems that the task to properly maintain our carpet clean was outdone by the high traffic the hotel was experiencing during your stay. For future similar events, we will increase the carpet upkeep in order for our guests to fully enjoy their hotel.

We are delighted you were able to book your reservation with ease online and that you received a wonderful rate for your accommodation. Thank you for taking the time to review our property and for providing our management team with pertinent information to create a higher quality product. If your travels bring your back to Visalia, CA, we invite you to stay at our hotel again and allow us the opportunity to impress you.

Thank you,

The Holiday Inn Visalia Hotel and Conference Center Team

I stayed here last week for work and except for the fact that their indoor pool and Jacuzzi was out of order (which really bummed me out!) it was very nice. It's huge and is comparable to nicer hotels I've stayed in. Comfortable beds and they give you coupons for the breakfast buffet which is good and has variety although the coffee could be better. There is a restaurant in the hotel which also provides room service which is convenient.

Unfortunately, if you are looking for a 4* hotel in Visalia you are out of luck. The Holiday Inn is a nice 3* hotel. My sisters and I stayed at the hotel for two nights. The hotel is conveniently located off the highway. The staff was friendly and efficient - easy check in/check out. The room was nice and the beds were comfortable. The hotel offers free parking and wi-fi. We received free breakfast vouchers each day for a hot breakfast buffet which was excellent. The wait staff made our dining experience enjoyable. I would recommend this hotel in you are going to stay in Visalia.

As Platinum member I was greeted warmly and was given a spacious room with all the amenities. With traveling around the world and using Holiday Inn I receive such great service! I really enjoy this hotel. They have a wonderful breakfast which has everything you want. The wait staff is always there to make sure your coffee is filled, and with smiles also. They have a. Ice bar where you can enjoy happy hour with appetizers and I have enjoyed eating my dinner there and watching tv. The restaurant is nice for dinner also. Such a nice atmosphere when you enter the hotel. Right across the hotel is a beautiful park which is nice to go to and you can enjoy a nice run. Come and enjoy a nice stay!!!!!
