I love STEAK! I have probably had the Rib Eye Steak at most of Visalia's restaurants. The Double LL has a GREAT tasting and one of the most largest Rib Eyes I have ever had. Great Taste too. The atmosphere is country.... but nice. If you like steaks, I do recommend the Double LL.

“good but pricey”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 20, 2012

The food is very good but a little on the pricey side. Their service is good and friendly and they make a great steak.

“No Issues, just a Perfect Steak”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2011

A good restaurant in Visalia is like being the tallest midget in the room...the peer group isn't so great in this town!

That being said, we recommend the Double L Steak House. This is a place you come to for a really good hunk of red meat.

The size of the menu may be a bit overwhelming, but if you are a lighter eater turn right to the back page. The "Light Dinner" options here must mean any steak weighing in less than 24 ounces. Consider splitting an entree, the house will set up a second plate with all side dishes (no entree) for $8.95.

I ordered the boneless rib eye, cooked medium. That is how it arrived.
Opted for the baked potato (hot and fluffy) and steamed veggie (broccoli). The small dinner salad was dressed correctly. Note the steaks here are grilled cowboy style, seasoned with a dry rub (good) and cooked over oak coals (damn good). If you do not care for a seasoning rub, advise your server.

My wife ordered the chicken fried steak. It was a thick slab of bottom round cooked correctly but she was disappointed in the cream gravy which tasted canned instead of made from scratch. She raved about the house rice side dish. She got through about half the steak before calling it a night.

Portions are big here, you may want to doggie bag the leftovers.

We went to the Double LL Steakhouse last night despite all the bad reviews and honestly, I really don't get why they have been so harshly judged. While this place isn't exactly the best I've ever been to, it is most definately more than acceptable. Our service was good, price was reasonable, the food tasted good and the portions were by far more than we barganed for. We will definately go there again for dinner, especially if we are REALLY hungry for a very large serving of comfort food. I hope the people reading these reviews won't shy away from this place based on all the bad rap, it's definately worth checking out for yourself.

“Worst customer service I have ever received”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2011

Tonight was my girlfriends last night in town so I suggested to everyone that we all go out to Double Ll for drinks and appetizers. It was about 7pm when we arrived and the bar was deserted, except for one other table of 6, a family, who was eating dinner there. We are all stay at home moms, very conservative, not the rowdy kinda crowd but looking forward to a relaxing night out to celebrate and reminisce our good friend having to move away. From the moment we walked in the door we were treated like garbage, the young man, the bartender, let us know he was short a cocktail waitress, but would do his best to serve us until he was too busy. We asked for separate tabs for the 7 of us, there was no one but a small family in the bar with us, he rolled his eyes and sighed, then walked away to get out drink orders in. When he came back we asked if there was a way to turn down the air, we were freezing! The answer was "no" short and curt and then he walked away. For right or wrong we decided we did not want to spend the night wrapped in our dining napkins so we moved over a table where we were sheltered from the torrential wind coming out of the pipes and ceiling fans ~ he glared at us to the point of embarassment and then threw towels behind the bar before storming out and getting the last two girls' drink orders. When we asked him if it was a problem or if he was upset that we moved he said, "Yes, first of all you pushed two tables together (we had 6 people and the tables sat 4) mind you no one offered to seat us so we sat down at the nearest empty table that didn't have a reserved sign on it, then you moved tables, and you want separate tabs..." At this point we were being yelled at, were shocked, and completely uncomfortable. We finished our drinks in silence, went to pay the tab where the female bartender, who obviously had heard his side of the story exclaimed, "You've got to be kidding me" I have never ever in my life, even at a fast food joint, ever been treated so rudely, my four year old has better manners! What was even more mortifying was that I recommended this place to my girlfriends and 5 of the 7 girls had never been there and 7 of the 7 said they would never go back!!! Mortifying, so Jeremy, maybe you better look for a job at a different facility, one that doesn't recquire any people skills or customer service. Terrible!!! We then walked to Fugazzi's and were served by an incredible waitress. The restaurant was super busy but she made us a priority, was kind, polite, and efficient in her service. At least then we knew we weren't the ones being jerks!
