“Nice hotel, friendly staff, great value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2010

We stayed at the Comfort Suites in downtown Visalia while visiting the Sequoia National Park. (The drive was a bit further than I would have liked, but it was a last minute trip and no rooms were available in Three Rivers.) This hotel is located across from the Visalia Convention Center and is within walking distance of a number of restaurants, a theatre and a movie theater.

We found the staff at Comfort Suites to be friendly and helpful. The room was very comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was a nice surprise; it was more like a limited buffet than continental breakfast. They also offer free parking and free WiFi, plus an ethernet connection in the room. If I was in the area, I'd gladly stay here again.

We ended up in the Comfort Suites in Visialia California quite by accident. Our car was demolished in a collision with another car and the driver of the truck that towed our car recommended Comfort Suites as a good place.
What an understatement THAT was. We were still very traumatized and becomming depressed by the accident. Slowly realizing how complicated it would be to get ourselves out of California and back to Florida. At that moment the only person in California connecting us to the outside world was the manager of the Comfort Suites in Visialia. He told us not to worry that the facilities of the Inn, including fax, phone, and internet were at our disposal and if we had any requests he would take care of the personally. AND HE DID THAT AND MORE! With AJ's help we were reconnected to our insurance company, rental cars, and literally everything we needed to get ourselves underway and to our flight connections 200 plus miles away in San Francisco. We stayed with Comfort Suites of Visalia for two nights. Everything from the food to the maid service and beyond was "five star." It is unlikely we'll ever be back to Visalia California, but if you are passing through, perhaps on your way to Sequoia National Park, and if you need a wonderful place to rest your head, we definitely recommend you stop at Comfort Suites. -Dr Philip A. Hotel was very convenient for the convention I was attending across the street. Room was very clean, bed very comfortable. Our room was very quiet. Great breakfast and manager's reception each afternoon. Staff was very accomodating.

While other hotels in Visalia might be good, you can't beat this hotel's location, right in the heart of downtown Visalia, in walking distance to decent restaurants, bars and even a multiplex movie theater. The free covered parking is great and their free breakfast is surprisingly diverse. I'm always treated well there and I'm a repeat customer. If I could give any advice, I would say to pick a room facing either Acequia or Church because directly (second floor) facing Brewbaker's second-story patio on a Friday/Saturday night could be noisy.

As for value, it's $80 a night and it feels much nicer. I've been in $199/night airport hotels that aren't as pleasant. Also, it connects to a UPS office center, and is across the street from a newsstand and convention center. Also has free WiFi which is a necessity for me. Highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Visalia for the first time.

Plus: Spacious rooms, fridge in rooms, close to downtown, free parking, free wireless internet

Minus: bathroom (small, no window, sink outside room), the room smelled a bit like an old attic, a little noise from the next door pub (but not very loud, and it was a Friday night, and the rooms facing the other direction wouldn't have this problem), breakfast wasn't very inviting (we took one look at it, and decided to eat elsewhere).

It can be taken as an example of good budget chain hotels: nice, clean, homey, with all the necessary facilities it's good value for money - we'd be glad to stay there again.
