“Great place to stay to visit Sequoia Ntl. Park”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 16, 2010

We stayed there before and after visiting Sequoia Ntl. Park and we were very satisfied. This hotel is one of the less expensive to stay and the room was perfect for us: it was clean, we had a fridge, TV, A/C... It is not easy to reach if you don't have a car; we took a taxi (15$) to get from the bus station to the Super 8. We were going to Sequoia by bus with the Sequoia Shuttle and the bus stops at the Hampton Inn, which is just beside the Super 8 Hotel. The breakfast isn't really big (bread, pastries, cereals, milk, coffee and orange juice), but it is better than nothing! There's a computer in the lobby with Internet for free and the staff has been very accommodating.

Made this reservation at the last minute and didn't have much to choose from. It's okay, but I've stayed at nicer Super 8s. Desk clerks were helpful, but breakfast was sparse. Someone had thrown rocks in the outdoor pool and no one had bothered to retrieve them.

We made a reservation for this motel months ahead of our actual stay in order to take advantage of their prepaid rate (which is 15% off their regular rate), plus their TripAdvisor ratings weren't too bad… However, when we arrived and wanted to check-in we were asked by the front desk person to pay the nightly rate although our stay had been prepaid. To make matters worse, when we presented a print-out of our confirmed reservation in order to prove that we booked a prepaid rate we were actually asked by that front desk person to provide him with a Super 8 phone number in order to check what had gone wrong with our reservation… How strange was that? We were also told that the owner would be back soon in order to take care of and solve this rather annoying situation. Needless to say, the owner never showed up… We even called Super 8 customer services ourselves who confirmed that our rate had been prepaid and who also contacted the front desk person but even they weren't able to convince him that our stay was prepaid. Having already wasted 2 hours at this feckless and treacherous motel we realized that there wasn't enough time left to visit Sequoia NP as we had originally intended to do… Thank you Super 8! So we checked out and drove another 2 hrs to Modesto were we're currently staying at a very nice Super 8 Motel near the CA-99 Freeway and looking forward to having dinner at Minnie's Restaurant in Modesto. Bottom-line: The people at the Visalia Super 8 ruined our visit to Sequoia NP hence we sincerely discourage anybody from staying at that motel. We stayed at many Wyndham hotels (e.g., Days Inn, Super 8, Travelodge, Ramada and even Knights Inn) during the past six years and had never experienced something likes this before. This place clearly has issues of sorts, so please do yourself a favor and avoid it at all costs—especially since there are many better options available in Visalia as well as along the route from Visalia to Sequoia NP…

Stayed here on our way to Sequoia National Park, good location, lots of food not far. Room was average, clean, cable TV, free wi-fi, breakfast was on the sparse side, quite nights rest in a comfortable bed.

My husband and I stayed for 1 night in the Super 8 in Visalia in september 2009 after visiting Sequoia National Park, which is nearby.
The room was big and clean and had a good bed. Thanks to Bhupen, the very helpful and nice Indian guy at the reception, we ended up having one of the best dinners of our trip at the East meets West restaurant (at 3233 W. Noble Av.).
The breakfast was included and could be taken in the lobby, where there were several small tables to sit at, and you could use the internet for free as well.
So all in all : great value for your money.

A great motel to stop at. Located just outside Visalia, but with good roads into downtown Visalia. You will need to drive to resturants and local Malls. The location is ideal for visiting Sequoia. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The food was the usual motel breakfast, enough to get you on the road with plenty of hot coffee and danish pasteries. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only complaint I have is that our air conditioner was noisy. If your going to Sequoia, the Super 8 is a good value stop . The Sequoia park is about 1 hours drive.I would have no hesitation in recommending this motel to anybody and I would certainly use it again myself.
