“No comparison with newer Fairfield Inn and Suites”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 13, 2009

Compared with Marriott standards this is at best an average hotel. It looks better from the outside than inside. No comparison with newer Fairfield Inn and Suites hotels. The lobby is not much better than in a Super 8, the breakfast room cramped and unattractive. The only available receptionist was not very helpful. Questioned about restaurants her knowledge was limited to the few mediocre places around the hotel. We found an excellent Mexican restaurant ("La Palapa") without her help. The pool was closed for cleaning. The room itself turned out to be a little bit larger than in usual Fairfields. It even had a fridge. But the bed - isn't it the most important item? - was less than tolerable: the mattress worn, the bedding constantly shifting from one side to the other. I woke up several times during the night, feeling uncomfortable. For the price they charge there must be better hotels in Visalia. At least it was quiet which you wouldn't expect considering the closeness to the freeway.

The rooms were of average cleanliness. The breakfast was just so-so (some sad looking fruit and the rest was processed food). Felt like the rates should have been a little lower for the quality of the hotel and rooms. There is a coffee stand and a Denny's next door and the hotel is conveniently located next to the freeway. But I will try the nearby LaQuinta next time which I am told is a little better.

The Fairfield is easy to find, is close to the freeway, and close to many convenient retail stores and restaurants. We paid 114.99 (plus 11.50 tax) per night for a King room. The bed was soooo comfortable and big, it could comfortably sleep four people. The room was well-stocked and housekeeping was always easy to find if you needed anything else. The free breakfast was much better then a regular continental breakfast. There was a lot of variety. We didn't use the indoor pool, but it looked inviting. The only drawback to this hotel was that it seemed to be filled with soccer families. Loud, non-disciplined soccer kids and families that seemed to think they were the only ones in the hotel. The walls are on the thin side, and I've heard from relatives in the area that the hotel is very popular with the soccer set.

Rooms were very clean and well stocked but very small. I have only once seen a hotel with smaller rooms. The breakfast was wonderful and the attendant did a great job! The indoor pool was very nice, but the spa was out of order. Front desk staff was extremely helpful and efficient!!! I would definately stay again.
There is a Denny's and a coffee house next door, an Appleby's across the street and a drug store a block down. Very nice location!

A Visalia resident recommend the Fairfield. I was there for golf and found the rooms clean and comfortable. Bed was OK (a little firm for my back) and room was well cleaned. The breaky was good, plenty of it and you made your own waffles (an experience). Two restaurants were opposite and a small supermarket next door. For a convenient location I found it great.

We had a long drive from Orange county Calif. We stayed here. Clean room. Two Queens. Easy to find in the dark ,felt safe. Lots of families. Breakfast was all Carbs but Free and easy to get. Make your own waffle, coffee, juice, yogurt... Lots of road work going into Sequoia narrow road. not good in the dark.....Stay here and get a fresh start.

The rugs were being cleaned while there but we had them hold off on our room until the next day. The breakfast was terrible - all carbs. Beds were uncomfortable - hard - just seemed unorganized there that day. If this is a typical Fairfield Inn I wouldn't go back.
