We went back to our hometown of Visalia for a family function. The Lamp Liter was a pleasant suprise for us. Great price, quiet. The rooms were very clean. The grounds were very lush and kept up well. The only complaint I would have is that of our experience with the pool. An employee had chosen one day to bring his family over to swim. Because of this, it was crowded and a bit noisy. the hotel on the whole was a very restful and pleasant suprise. The staff was great, and attended to any need we had, which wasn't much, as it was overall a great place to stay.

Visalia has undergone many changes and now the Lamp Liter is in a quiet backwater since the new freeway was built. Lovely gardens, always clean and the staff very friendly. Currently undergoing refurb on the rooms to update. Perfect spot from which to explore Sequoias and Kings Canyon, easy access to shopping and restaurants.

Stayed there last weekend for a special event. The room was dirty. Part of the molding was falling off. There was pubic hair in the shower. There was no bathtub. This place had plenty of vacancies but they gave us the crappiest room there. Never again.

Have stayed here many times and have always found it to be pleasant , clean and quiet. The place is older with very pretty, well maintained grounds but the rooms are modern and nice. I don't think they have data ports yet and they do not allow pets, which would be my only concerns. They've always accepted entertainment cards, etc., so I've never paid the rate listed on this site. The staff is always pleasant and helpful. It's centrally located, right off the freeway, and in a nice neighborhood. Marie Calendar's is just down the street and one of the better versions of that chain. For fine dining, The Depot is very nice, if not a bit pricy. The "old town" area is very nice and full of artsy and antique shops.
